Deep down, I’ll bet Brooke Henderson is now regretting her decision to skip this event. It was definitely a panic move. The notion that playing the PAG would jeopardize her chances of avoiding Q-school looks more and more ridiculous. I know, these games are a pale copy of the Olympics, but it was on her home turf...it couldn’t get any better than that.
What’s worse is that she made her decision so late that Canada was not permitted to fill her spot with another player. Do you think Brittany Henderson would pass up a chance to play the PAG?!
The women’s golf started yesterday at Angus Glen Golf Club in Markham, Ontario. Andrea Lee was the low amateur at this year's Swinging Skirts.

I like Lorie Kane, but was she really one of the best Canadian players they could have sent? Or was it just a gift given to honor her?

Canadian Princess and a white BJ Wie in the making.....Tony J and I know a guy who saw this coming at last year's CWO....great perception.....I totally support the move that an alternate is not allowed to play based on a WD without excuse of illness or personal issues. Glad to see the likes of Dora the Explorer and Uribe playing. $2.6B has been spent on these no name games...I've gotta believe these games were bid on by Toronto to support another Olympic bid. Angus Glen is really expensive for meh course(s).

Sharp, S, Kim and RBL are ranked higher than Kane...and they may have chosen to play for money at The Marathon.....but S. Kim is not in Ohio. Yes...likely a ceremonial component to Kane's pick.

Got to think that Rob Ford is kicking himself for pulling out of last year's mayoral race at the 11th hour. He'd have been as omnipresent at these Games as Donald Trump is at golf tournaments he's in any way involved in. Aside from his supporters everyone else is grateful that Ford stepped aside. Personally I'm hoping that Olivia Chow, who was among those who lost that election, will bid to return to Ottawa in the forthcoming federal election and snag a top cabinet post once the NDP send the Conservatives packing.Kevin

Pretty impressive that Andrea Lee (turns 17 next month) maintained her lead against seriously good players like Uribe and Granada (and Moreno has been around the LPGA block a few times). Lee has committed to Stanford U. The 2015 PAG has a good website, but I haven't found any details on the specific course(s) used or the yardage set up. Meanwhile, after three rounds in Rochester, Brooke Henderson is the 5th-best Canadian on the scoreboard! 1 LEE Andrea USA 70 -2 207 -9 2 URIBE Mariajo COL 70 -2 209 -7 3 GRANADA Julieta PAR 72 PAR 211 -5 4 NAVARRO Marijosse MEX 73 1 214 -2 5 MORENO Paola COL 71 -1 215 -1 6 GUTIERREZ Lucia PER 76 4 220 4 7 GILLMAN Kristen USA 71 -1 221 5 8 DARQUEA Daniela ECU 78 6 222 6 9 CARBAJO RE Manuela ARG 74 2 224 8 10 RAMOS Margarita MEX 75 3 227 11 11 CHAVES Milagros PAR 73 1 229 13 11 ACOSTA Delfina ARG 76 4 229 13 13 FONSECA Ariadna VEN 74 2 231 15 13 FELIBERT Veronica VEN 74 2 231 15 13 ALEXANDER Amira ISV 75 3 231 15 13 POLO Lucia GUA 76 4 231 15 13 TORRES Maria PUR 79 7 231 15 18 SEALY Monifa TTO 77 5 235 19 19 de SOUZA Simone PER 74 2 236 20 20 KANE Lorie CAN 75 3 237 21 20 ECHEVERRIA Pilar GUA 76 4 237 21 20 ARIAS Coralia ECU 77 5 237 21 23 PEREZ Natalia BOL 79 7 239 23 24 HAUPT Valentina CHI 79 7 244 28 25 SCHMID Priscilla URU 80 8 246 30 26 FERREIRA Christina TTO 79 7 248 32 27 SORIA Natalia BOL 86 14 250 34 28 TEIXEIRA Clara BRA 87 15 251 35 29 SCHELE Pilar CHI 84 12 264 48 29 BARROS Manuela URU 85 13 264 48 DQ ALTMANN Luiza BRA

The Rob saga was good entertainment for a while. Kevin....huh....you're a liberal?...golf is a fav past time for Republicans/Conservatives.....please NOT the NDP's....ugh. Very impressive...why are you so interested in Canadian politics? You need to be reminded that I was born, raised and still reside in perhaps the bluest of blue states (Massachusetts), so I tend to think of myself as a progressive. Given where I grew up I was also fascinated by the faraway signals that took over my radio after dark, many of which came from north of the border. It got to where I could more or less follow the progress of an Expos game in French, but I also became attuned to current events in Canada as well.
Speaking of progressive, what used to be called the Progressive Conservative Party has become more ideologically aligned with their Republican cousins south of the border, which is a worrisome prospect. I think many of the progressives wound up going over to the NDP, although they have the fickle Quebec electorate to thank for helping put native son Jack Layton into Stornaway (official residence in Ottawa of the leader of Her Majesty's loyal opposition). It's a shame that he didn't live long enough to keep the momentum going, nor was his widow (the aforementioned Ms Chow) interested in succeeding Jack after he lost his battle with cancer. Does Thomas Mulcaire have what it takes to topple Stephen Harper and become Prime Minister or will he need help from Justin Trudeau's Liberals to get the NDP into power at last?

Kevin I don't like the Habs nor the Alouettes....but did like the Expos....we I was young...Rusty Staub was a fav among many kids. I use to also play Little League on an Expos teams....previously on the Orioles. Harper's government has it's issues and might not win a majority....Mulcair is fairly respected....but I don't see the NDP in power come the fall. There's been a lot of bashing Trudeau on his lack of maturity on TV. Ontario is always an influencer, but I don't have a pulse on their political stance.
