Are these players "required" to play this event? The field is full of some top names in the KLPGA. The 2022 KLPGA Tour is basically over. The top players made enough money to relax and practice over the winter or enter Q-Series. The long week in and week out schedule would wear me out. I'd want a break and prepare for April. Maybe go practice at the site of the 2023 KLPGA Championship (if the weather was not too bad.) Maybe head to Palm Springs or something.
Oh well, off to Singapore they go. Hope they do well.
I saw overseas there is golf betting. It seems extremely tough to rig a victory for a particular golfer on a Wednesday. But, gambling on who will play best in a group or which member of a group will win the hole seems to be much easier to manipulate. I like golf because it's harder to rig the winner.

SYFan did not mention a few other names of note in the field:
* Mini Ting Ting ... I assume she is still trying to fight her way on to a better tour than the lousy CLPGA ... looks overmatched in this event.
* Mao Nozawa ... JLPGA veteran
* Meaw ... LPGA winner, of course.
* Natasha Andrea Oon ... one of the better-known EMP wannabes.
* Momoka Kobori ... the broadcasters talked her up at the Simone Cup, but she was clearly in over her head there ... and here.
* Mind Muankhamsakul ... wearing two gloves, I witnessed her LPGA cup of coffee at the 2021 Cognizant ... didn't show me much.
* Pauline Del Rosario ... another one that got a lot of talk at the Simone Cup ... definitely better than Kobori, but hasn't cracked the major leagues yet ... might not ever.
Btw, I'm pretty sure that PK Kongkraphan was in this field, but I guess she dropped out. The KLPGA will be in Vietnam the following week ... maybe she'll be there.
Correction: Konkraphan's name popped into my head because she is playing ISPS HANDA Oz Open this week ... have no idea what her plans are after that.

This is a fabulous field. Hopefully there will be live English language broadcasts again like last time.
If the KLPGA can call this their first official 2023 event, why couldn't the LPGA do the same for the Aussie Open? A lack of imagination and another strike against Mollie. I wouldn't be surprised if there's a mutually-agreed parting-of-the-ways during the holidays, with Mollie going back to her college coaching job.

If the KLPGA can call this their first official 2023 event, why couldn't the LPGA do the same for the Aussie Open? The difference is money. The purse here is way higher than an average KLPGA event; while the ISPS's purse of US$1.1 million is way below the minimum LPGA purse of $1.5 million.

I didn't know this counted as the first event of 2023. I haven't seen any evidence for that.
Yes, this should be broadcasts on YouTube in English. He told me he wants to walk some holes in the morning and broadcast in the afternoon at the normal time.

The KLPGA regularly did this pre-pandemic. They would have their first events of the season in December, somewhere other than Korea. Then there would be a several-month break, after which the season would start in earnest in April.
I recall way back in December 2009, the China Ladies Open came down to a showdown between So Yeon Ryu and Hee Kyung Seo, with Ryu beating Seo in a three-hole playoff to win the initial event of the 2010 season. Interestingly, Ryu would beat Seo again a year later in a three-hole playoff at the US Women's Open.

We missed a couple of other "names", Cyborg and Mi Jeong Jeon.
Nothing posted yet on the KLPGA website regarding TV coverage. A Google-mushed article says "The ‘Hana Financial Group Singapore Women’s Open’ will be broadcast live by satellite in 20 countries both domestically and overseas."
Paphangkorn is in the poster, but not in the field.

Guess who is playing in Vietnam next week ... with the retirement of the SS Feng, Dr. Noh has become the LPGA's new slumlord.
