Yoko Maeda held off 3 challengers at her heels to win the 2015 Samantha Thavasa Girls Collection Ladies Tournament. The 30 year old Maeda shot a 4-under 68 to finish at 8-under, 1 shot clear of Erina Hara, Bo-MeeLee and Ji-Hee Lee. Hara staged a massive charge, but her 7-under 65 moved her 19 places up the leaderboard when she needed 20 to force a playoff. Bo-Mee birdied 3 of the last 4 holes, but like Hara came up one short. Most heartbreaking was second round leader Ji-Hee, who had two reasonable chances at birdie on 17 and 18. She lipped off the bottom edge of the cup on 17. On 18, the ball broke harder left than she anticipated. In the end, Maeda earned her second JLPGA victory. Her first was last November at the Ito En Ladies. On a more personal note, it’s great to see Thai golfer, and former Purdue Boilermaker, Onnarin Sattayabanphot grab a top 5 finish. Keep it going, Moo!
