They've finally selected a venue for this year's LPGA stop in Korea: www.lpga.com/news/2022/oak-valley-country-club-to-host-2022-bmw-ladies-championshipOak Valley Country Club is about an hour east of Seoul, a Robert Trent Jones, Jr-designed course. Somehow they will mash together holes from three of the four 9-hole courses on the property to create the course for this tournament. With the Taiwan stop now cancelled, it's only Japan and Korea on the Fall Asian Swing, sadly.

Has the KLPGA ever played there? It seems the KLPGA hasn't played there in the last four years at least.

Per Google mush, a sampling of Korean articles does NOT mention any golf tournaments held at this venue before. I saw no references to the KLPGA. It's not listed among the top-50 ROK courses on the Top 100 site. A July article says Oak Valley will have the seventh Titleist Performance Center in Korea. The BMW event will have 68 LPGAers, 8 other invited pros and 2 amateurs recommended by the KGA.

sports.news.naver.com/news?oid=011&aid=0004100479Looks like there won't be any KLPGA players in the BMW this year. This article hints of a rift between LPGA and KLPGA. KLPGA has threatened fines and 10-tournament suspension for any KLPGA (or Dream/JUmp) player who participates. Sad

I can't blame the KLPGA for getting ugly ... how could they possibly allow eight top players to play BMW while they hold a regular KLPGA event the same week? I suppose the LPGA will go down the alternate list to fill the remaining spots, but it sure would be cool if they reserved a spot for a player who outplayed embarrassed Ryu, HoJo, The Old Ko, Dr. Noh and Shibuno a few weeks ago: sound the trumpets for Her Royal Highness Princess Mary Superal.

Wow, really? How incredibly stupid. The main reason this event is so fun is getting a chance to watch these great KLPGA stars shine. Way to kill another event, guys.

They signed a 3 year deal with a new sponsor with above average prizemoney for there same week event. If i was that sponsor i sure would like the best of the KLPGA to participate in my event and not the BMW!

Just had a thought: Why should BMW Korea accept the next players off the LPGA alternate list? There are eight invitee spaces, so let them invite eight "other" Koreans as replacements ... if they used the alternate list, that would be Haeji Kang, Ryu, Chang, Oh, Unlucky Five, Sung Hung, MHL and Yaeeun Hong. Oh wait ... forget Hong, I still want to see the Princess.

The KLPGA allows its players to participate in events that take place opposite their own events twice a year (unless that rule changed). But because the event is in Korea, I guess they called backsies. Of course, it's the KLPGA's fault for scheduling an event during the LPGA event. Chalk up another "win" for the nematodes running that tour; having their stars excel at the LPGA event HELPS their tour by showing how great it is. And of course, it's the players who will be punished if they play. I hope there's a mass-exodus to Q Series this Fall.

There was a conflict because the Sponsor of the event had a big say in it. Why should the KLPGA alienate their Sponsor who supports their Tour. I am glad that they didn't turn tell and run like the LPGA did from the Amateur tournament in Georgia. Sure why don't the KLPGA players join the LPGA so they can be ignored and hated if they win a lot . If it come down to the LPGA and KLPGA the only choice for me is the KLPGA.

The LPGA event in Korea should be co-sanctioned by the KLPGA, then it wouldn't be an issue. I don't know if it was the LPGA or KLPGA who dropped the ball there, but that was the first and worst mistake. But I guess the LPGA would rather have their lowliest players fly to Korea to play rather than give top 50 in the world stars a chance to compete.

Do you really know the whole story of what went on doing the Meeting. I like Ina Yoon as much as you do and was boomed by the three year punishment. But don't know if the people that run the Tournaments have a say in it. I'm sure that they would like to have a great draw like Ina to still be playing.

The Expert called it ... the latest invitees in the field, per LPGA website -
NYC Sung Hung Amy Hong J. Song MHL Su Oh Inky
They have space for two more players. They also added Minsol Kim(a) who is #41 on WAGR ... has two amateur wins this year and was 16th in the OK/Pak event.

en.yna.co.kr/view/AEN20221007004400315?section=sports/sports So-yeon has been added to the invitees as well. Several of the invitees need some good performances before the end of the year, or will have to go to Q School. Song is currently at 118 on CME - will she do Q School or retire? would be very sad if she packed it in. Yaeeun Hong at 117 MHL is 113 Su Oh right at 100 IKK is at 136, but has one year left of Cat 3 Major Winner status (2017 win) SHP is at 109, but has two years left of Cat.3 status (2018 win)
