The seeding is always interesting here because they use the previous year's standings and don't take into account that some of the rookies are much stronger than they appear. I wonder who will be unfortunate enough to get Yewon Lee in their bracket for instance?

Is there any randomness between rounds or is this a full bracket style thing?
The first round matches are already posted. Someone may be able to copy and paste here.

Only 64 players can enter and it might be required as part of KLPGA rules. Anyway, anyone lower in the rankings has the week off.

Groups and Round of 16 BracketFor example: PARK Min Ji(group 2) should win her group and then face Group 15's winner (likely 홍정민) It seems to me this is all based on players performance. Nothing random. The top 64 players currently in the KLPGA ranked automatically based on previous years last ranking in a systematic unchanging way. You can see how the rank of the players in each group was done. Then group winners face each other in the bracket the same way each year. If you want a more favorable group, play better in the current year for next year. At the end of this year we could easily generate these groups for next year. No guesswork.

It looks like they are doing this like they did last year. The matches are broken up into groups of 4 players each. For the first three days each player plays each of the other three in their group in matches. The top player in each group by record then advances to the match play portion on the weekend, creating a round of 16. Each group contains a player from the top 16, the bottom 16, 17-32 and 33-49. Which players are in each group is randomly decided when the top player picks a player from three different bowls. Here are some pix from this year's selection: Hae Ran Ryu So Mi Lee Min Ji Park Ji Hyun Oh Ga Eun Song Ji Young Park Ji Yeong Kim picked Yun Ji Jeong Su Ji Kim Waiting their turns

Well if Hee Jeong Lim want the Trophy she has to win some tough matches. Doesn't matter if it's early or late during the Tournament. If not just go and get ready for the next Tournament. She has the talent to have a great Career, if she stay focused. It's a long year with more Majors.

Yeah, but it's nice to have a chance to warm up first. She won't have too many easier warm up matches.
I found the name picking in its entirety!

I'm confused.
Didn't you say the rankings were based on last year's standings?
Maybe entrance is based on last years standings and the top 16 draw the groups.
I guess I got confused. The draw seems pointless if they are ranked by last year's standings. 🤔 oh well. It's not important.
They tee off soon.

They are based on last year's standings. They seed the players in one of the four buckets based on their standings last year. So bucket B is #17 - 32, Bucket C the 33 - 48th ranked, etc. But then there is a randomization based on who the top players choose from each bucket.
The 16 who pick are also based on last year's standings. There are a few exceptions for players who weren't on tour last year like the rookies and Sun Ju Ahn. Make sense?
