The next KLPGA event takes place in China and starts Friday the 3rd. It's a three day event. Interestingly, the field includes last week's winner Ha Na Jang, last year's champion Hyo Joo Kim, and last year's Rookie of the Year Kyu Jung 'Q' Baek. Shanshan Feng will also play. Apparently these gals aren't too worried about jet lag in flying to the US Women's Open the following week!

They are all sponsored by either Kumho Tire or Asiana Airlines hence them all being there.

Some prominent names are missing from this one, including Shin Ae Ahn, Song Yi Ahn, Ji Hee Kim, and Soo Jin Yang. Two USWO players are skipping it, Yoon Kyeong Heo and Jung Min Lee.

In Gee Chun is also taking the week off to prepare for the Open. I don't see Jin Young Ko or Min Sun Kim in the field either. Looks like an off week for a lot of the ladies!

I am really looking forward to seeing how Jung Min Lee and In Gee performs in the USWO. If they set it up tough like an open course should be, I expect them to at least get a top ten. Hopefully not like the last Major was setup.

Here's an interesting tidbit. Anyone remember Gloria Park? One of the original Seoul Sisters, won twice back around 2000-2001 time frame? Gloria has been playing only sporadically on the KLPGA the past few years (the article claims she retired in 2012, but I don't recall that being announced). But now, she has been given quite an honor. She has been named the coach for the Chinese women's golf team! The announcement was made at this week's KLPGA event! The appointment is for the next two years. It's not clear if she is the only coach, the main coach or one of a team of coaches, but it still is quite an honor for her. Congrats!

I was wrong about Ji Hee Kim...she's playing this week: This crazy golf course is shaped like a dagger and juts out into the sea. It's only 6,146 yards and with the wind off the water, maybe it's the KLPGA version of the Shop-Rite in AC. That probably means low scores and high scores. Yan Wang shot 94 (+22). Xiu'e Wang took a 13 on the par-5 6th hole and is +23 after 15 holes. At least ten Chinese girls got killed among the early starters...dial 911 for Gloria Park. The early leader is Se Yeong Park, who stepped out of a phone booth and shot 65. Never heard of her before and for good reason: she has 11 starts and 11 MCs this year with a scoring average of 76.22. What is going on over there? UPDATE: Oh my gosh, when's the referee gonna jump in and stop the fight?! Xui'e Wang just took an 11 on the par-5 16th hole and is +31 with one holes left. She is playing with Jinfeng Cao who took a 10 on #16 and is +19. Hae Ra Park at +6 is the unfortunate witness.

They have an "88 rule" in place...seven players were told to go home, including Xiu'e Wang (104). Five Koreans shot 80+ and will be detained later at Incheon Airport to verify their identities and heritage. The worst score of 85 was posted by the unfortunately named Ji Woo Suk. At the par-5 6th, Ha Na Jang found the light rough on the left with her tee shot. She took her stance on a cart path for her second shot, but was distracted and backed away from it. She approached her ball again, then stopped, turned around and said to someone off-camera, "Don't move! Stop!" I never saw the Hulk turn green before. The leader: Hye Youn Kim shot 73. Jae Eun Chung has a game that travels well.

Round 1: Rookie Park LeadsRookie Se Young Park shot an early 7 under par 65 to take a three shot lead after round one. In the afternoon, the stars came out. Hyo Joo Kim was paired with Shanshan Feng and Ha Na Jang in the most powerful pairing. Hyo Joo did not disappoint, shooting a 4 under par 68, good for a tie for second. Kim is not only the defending champ here, she has won the last two events she has played in China (having won the Hyundai Ladies Open in December as well). Meanwhile, Feng shot a 69 and is the only Chinese player in the top ten. She is tied for 5th. Jang produced a 70 and is tied for 10th. Q Baek continued her struggles, shooting a 2 over par 74 to land in a tie for 41st. Two more days! Scores: 1. Se Young Park (R) 65 -7 2. Pei-Yun Chien (Taiwan) 68, Hyo Joo Kim, Han Sul Ji (R) -4 5. The Chinese will grease the palms of anyone ...the Chinese are always willing to buy their way to a gold medal....lol. Heck....they've also put in an offer to Kim Jong Un to coach...heck he's had 11 hole in one's in one round...so he must be really good. I'm surprised they haven't offered The Smiling Buddha a job...he's the master of gamesmanship.

Phil You are one freaky funny guy....no one on this site comes close.....but I have a feeling not many appreciate your sarcasm....not many reply to your posts. I didn't see the incident....but I did notice The Hulk looked mad when I watched....I'm having problems stay awake to watch the KLPGA & JLPGA events.

Round 2: Hyo Joo Kim takes over
In the morning of day 2, Hyo Joo Kim made her move. She shot a 6 under par 66 to vault to 10 under total and a three shot lead with one round to go. Rookie Han Sul Ji moved to second at 7 under, while Ha Na Jang shot a 68 and is third at 6 under. Shanshan Feng remains the top Chinese (and non-Korean) player in the field, but she struggled on day two, shooting a 73 to fall to 2 under total and out of the top ten. Q Baek had an under par round, but it was only a 71, so she stands at 1 over total, 11 shots behind Hyo Joo. One more day. Can Hyo Joo get the job done? Scores: 1. Hyo Joo Kim 66 -10 2. I listen to the KLPGA broadcast even though I don't understand what they are saying.
I sometime mute the Golf Chanel broadcast because I understand what they are saying
