Starts Thursday for a field of 120 ... top-60 plus ties make the cut. Na Ri Lee will make her 2022 debut this week ..,. the same news for Simin Feng, although she doesn't have good status for Japan's big tour. They'll have a max of 3,000 spectators per day.
This used to be the tournament that had more FREE YouTube streaming than all the others ... those days are history. The BS Asahi channel will broadcast all four days LIVE, but I don't know if this link will have it:
aqstream.com/jp/tva/TV-Asahi
If yes, the Japan times would be 1:55 PM (Thu & Fri) and 1:00 PM (Sat & Sun).

The obligatory Team Yamaha photo ... they usually do it in front of the Yamaha gear van.
My best guess on the names (L-R) - ?, Maria Shinohara, Kana Nagai, Nozomi Uetake, Chie Arimura, ?, Mami Fukuda, Eight Head, ?, ?

Really surprised that a LIVE feed (above) is working ... Eight Head made a short birdie putt to tie for the lead at -5 and has four holes remaining ... and she just left herself about a fifteen-foot birdie attempt at #6 ... missed it, but still tied for first. Bae and Saigo finished their rounds at -5. The par-3 4th has water at the front and left of the green, but it's only 150 yards ... yet, Inami and Saku-chan hit dreadful shots way left and made doubles ... and Momoko Ueda just hit the same lousy shot.
No flip by Yui.

Kotone Hori had her worse start in quite a while, four bogeys no birdies.
Yui Kawamoto is near the cut line again at plus one. Made bogey on sixteen and seventeen which has become a habit with her.

Yui Kawamoto made two bogeys late again to end the round. She made bogey on sixteen and seventeen to miss the cut by one shot. She only hit twenty of thirty six greens. It's early maybe she will figure it out.

While going through the Getty pics this week, I noticed a definite uptick in players wearing masks while playing ... particularly players I've never seen do this before, like Ting Ting, Rie Tsuji and Nozomi Uetake. I hope this is just a temporary pollen thing and NOT resurgent Covid Idiocy.

Hori Two sits at 80th on the Rolex Rankings ... I doubt she'll be in the top-75 after Sunday, which is where you need to be to avoid qualifying for the USWO. That's the April 6 deadline ... however, she can also avoid qualifying if she's in the top-75 by May 16. This assumes she wants to play the USWO ... which is almost impossible to know since the USGA took down the Entrant Lookup button from its website a few weeks ago. SW Bae (#72) and Sayaka Takahashi (#76) are straddling the line going into Sunday.

It's early, but Chairwoman Mao leads the tour in wins, money, points, scoring average and top-tens. Drove it OB on #18, but had a big enough cushion to skate by.

Really great comeback for Kotone Hori a solo second after the first round seventy six. The only downer was the bogey on seventeen which caused her a tie for the lead.
