The same tropical birds as Singapore. How can they fly there in time? McHale, Ensign Parker, Gruber & Leadbottom are all dead. Fuji is going strong. Genetics. Lt. Carpenter is gone too. I just looked it up. I got his autograph in '65 when we got off the Universal Glamour Tram. It wasn't a theme park back then. They had a few "stars" there to meet the fans at the end of the tour. I also got Cpl. Agarn's signature. He just turned 99 in January according to Wikipedia.

Round 2
The scoring is quickly turning ridiculous. I'm not a big fan of events where the winning score is better than 20 under, but at the rate they're going, we might see it closer to 30 under by the time it's done. Hataoka has reached 15 under and she still has at least one par 5 to play.
I gave up after an hour when it became plain that none of the Sisters were going to be on the broadcast. I really wish they would show the complete leaderboard more often; I'd settle for the second and third page of the leaderboard more than once an hour!
Six had an OK 68 to get to -10 and t-10, but she somehow made a double on 16 or she might have been low enough to get some TV time on day three. Hyo Joo is also there, shooting an ignored 65. So Yeon had a 66 to get to 9 under.
Meanwhile, In Gee and A Lim shot 69s and aren't even in the top 20 anymore. Amy's also at 9 under, 6 back.
The Aussies are having a better week; Minjee shot a 64 and is still 4 back, and Su is just a shot back and has a few more holes to go.
It's all about going low. That's the story. It looks like all but a few are already out of this, but Six and a few others are capable of 62s or maybe even lower, and that's what they're going to need. Good luck! Hwaiting!

Round 1 This is annually one of those events where you need to shoot ridiculously low scores and make a lot of putts to have any chance of winning. A few snapshots that show what I mean: there were 3 63s today. Apparently, that's more 63s than have happened all the rest of the year combined. A 66 didn't even get you a top ten. I spy a drivable par 4! Also a follow up on your comment that you can see why JYK and Inbee skipped a tournament like this. The only problem with top players skipping these birdiefests is that if you skip 4 or 5 five of them during the course of the year, it will have an affect on your chances of winning the Vare trophy. For Jin Young, who is literally in it to win it, and who is not known for low rounds, an event like this must feel like swimming against the tide. She doesn't get to show off what she can do, and even great scores for her might not be good enough. Given she's averaging sub-68 even on tougher courses, I think her Vare chances are pretty good, even if she skips most of these easy ones. The other thing to keep in mind is that these events might give chances to improve scoring, but it's usually random who will benefit most that week, since literally anyone could be on a roll. A player who gets to 25 under riding a hot putter one week will be lucky to get to 10 under the next bunny week. I doubt we will see too many players getting more than 1 or 2 really low total scores over the course of the year. So with luck it won't have too great an effect on the Vare.

They did finish round 2, with Hataoka and Oh tied at 16 under. The top Koreans are Six and Hyo Joo, tied for 11th, six back.

So Yeon Ryu had another good birdie round. five birdies and one eagle. This time she only gave one back with one bogey. Her driver average was 255, much better than 245. Still with some drivable par fours and short par fives. She probably have to shoot minus eleven or twelve under weekend for even a top ten.

It's a good tournament. The best player wins no matter how hard or easy the course. With 27 holes left a bunch of good pros can win.

Round 3
Oh well, better luck next time!
Hyo Joo and Amy are averaging 67, which in this place doesn't get you in the top ten. No way the winning score will be less than 25 under, so they are effectively out of it. Pad your scoring average, finish in the top ten, and see you in the States!
Somehow In Gee was over par; a combo of two doubles and only two birdies. But she started the day at 7 under, so it's quite possible a 64-64 weekend wouldn't have been enough anyways. Everyone has a dud now and again; enjoy the food and see you in So. Cal!
Six, So Yeon and A Lim still have shots at top tens; my guess is it will require a 19 under to get there.
Sisters hwaiting!

So Yeon Ryu had four birdies and no bogeys which wasn't nearly enough. She made birdie on three of the par fives with a driving average of 250 yards. Which shows how ridiculous these par fives are set up. She needs to do something about her driving distance. Hyo Joo Kim had a two eighty yard average and for what good it did her Jeongeun Lee6 averaged 291. Usually a good player always win duh, still the course should be setup for Professional golfers.

I just like to say that the Golfers on the LPGA, KLPGA, JLPGA, LET are the best of the best. I just enjoy it more when they Showcase their talent and not dumb it down. My favorite shot when they hit a mid iron to a tight pen placement near water.

Everyone on the LPGA is an excellent golfer, or she wouldn't be on the LPGA. And winning anything is a feat that deserves respect. But frankly, it's boring to watch dozens of short putts for birdie over and over. You aren't likely to get an exciting final day charge like Minjee's last week, unless someone shoots a 58. It's what makes men's golf so darn dull: predictability.
The GIC doesn't get this basic premise: Women's golf is exciting because the winners show off great course management, regardless of the final score. They can't compete with the length of the men, so the desire to make women's golf about bombers is a bad direction to go. That just makes them a poor shadow of the men.
But the men are in no way as accurate as the women since they don't need finesse to score: 'grip it and rip it'. Rahm is not even in the top 100 in putters on the PGA. And I hear that even the top men would not be in the top 20 on the LPGA in driving accuracy. So watching an average length hitter like Jin Young Ko dissect a course can be an amazing experience, and one you can't get watching the men. This is what they should be selling. JYK's 66 GIR record translates even through sexism, because the great male amateurs know they couldn't do that no matter what tees they played from.
But when the course doesn't require any course management because it's too easy, they neutralize their best asset. Doesn't mean the winner doesn't deserve a trophy, but it doesn't show the ladies in the best light, either. Just IMO.

It's nervous time when one of the good guys has a chance to finally win.
