The empty spots are starting to fill up ... they added Shibuno, Jeeno Jat, Porna, Pedersen and Papp. There are six openings remaining ... Furue is playing the week before in Singapore, so she'd be a logical addition. Cyborg did NOT qualify for Singapore ... don't know if she want's to play in Asia for one tournament.

It appears that Thailand has more influence than the title sponsor ... players added to the field include Chanettee Wannasaen (#1134 on Rolex), Prima Thammaraks, ex-Dukie Jaravee Boonchant and Rina Tatematsu (has a Japan flag next to her name on the LPGA website, but a Thai flag on the WAGR rankings where she is #53). Only two openings are left.

Woo hoo, The Ice Cream Queen made it. One opening is left.

The media section of the LPGA website says Porna Phatlum is in the field, but the field entries section on the tournament page does not include her ... shows one opening, which I assume was reserved for the Singapore winner (who is NOT here).

My field rating for this event is a mediocre 58% (down from 59.5% last year). Many players who played last week in Singapore are not in this week's field. They include: Jin Young Ko, Lydia Ko, Inbee Park, Sei Young Kim, Jenny Shin, Eun Hee Ji, Sung Hyun Park, and Ayaka Furue. My breakdown is 65% from the LPGA Priority List and 51% from the Rolex Rankings. Other top players, besides the above mentioned players, not teeing it up include: Nelly Korda Jessica Korda Lexi Thompson Ally Ewing Anna Nordqvist Georgia Hall Austin Ernst Ryann O'Toole Sophie Popov Hee Young Park Mirim Lee
In this week's Rolex Rankings: Athaya Thitikul makes the most important move jumping from No. 20 to No. 14. In Gee Chun Leaps from No. 34 to 25, repacing So Yeon Ryu (25 to 29) in the top 25. Of players that were already in the top 100, Sarah Schmelzel moves up the most spots (8), moving from 90 to 82. Perrine Deacour (102-86) and Jasmine Suwannapura (101-100) enter the top 100 this week and are now part of my field rating. They replaced Mi Jung Hur (98 - 103) and Maja Stark (100-101) who dropped out.
Other Notes: Brooke Henderson and Danielle Kang are the only players with 3 top tens. In fact Brooke has four top 11 finishes.

In Gee is now the 7th highest ranking Korean in the world! This is the first time she has been in the top 25 since the week after the 2019 Mediheal, close to 3 years ago. Great job!

Stanford's dominance in golf this year has overshadowed everyone, including Oklahoma State. I didn't know that they won their first four tournaments of 2021-22 and soph Rina Tatematsu shot 69.30 during that stretch of ten medal rounds. She shot 71.85 during forty rounds as a freshman. The video below clearly shows that she plays for Thailand ... why she has a Japanese name, I have no clue ... it's probably complicated. If you're wondering how she can skip school to play Honda, well, Okla. State began its season with twelve players ... two have recently transferred (which is an interesting story in itself), leaving them only ten!
Rina at last November's WAAPC in Abu Dhabi ... the husky one, a senior grad student, is only the 5th best player at Wake Forest (The Deacs have four team wins in 2021-22) ... George Harper Jr. (Is George Harper Sr. a famous person?) is a little cheesy at times, but I appreciate him shining the spotlight on these "unknowns" ... we could use him over here.

Caddie list is out ... Papp will employ touring pro Holly Clyburn and Wei-Ling Hsu renewed Cheeseburger Chad for another week. The BIG news is Khang flying over Missy Pedersen for her bag. Is this a one-week loan from Bam Bam or a permanent change? Khang has had Jack Fulghum going back to Walmart in 2021, so she might have had enough ... I wouldn't tick off Khang ... had a close look at her at Cognizant last year ... she could pick you up and drop you on your head. Fulghum also worked for LEXI(tm) and Piller/Mendoza in 2021.
********
In other news, if Jack F. needs work, he can look no further than MHL, who will be coming out of her bomb shelter on March 21 to qualify for JTBC/Aviara. It seems being #188 in priority is not a total disaster (yet), as she is now in the field for nine events:
Shoprite Meijer KPMG CP Women's Open Portland Walmart VOA Mediheal Pelican
She's not in Marathon or Kroger, but could get into them easily if she changed her mind. I assume she'll hire a loop and NOT push her own bag at her USWO qualifier, wherever that will be.

The Perfect Woman and Shibuno Fever are grouped together along with Hannah Green.
I'd like to think those two would leave Greenie in the dust.

philknj I don't want to spoil your good spirit, but those entries lists are preliminary. The cutoff for entries is the Friday before the tournament week, and most higher priority players have yet to enter. Mi Hyang will get into a few events, but way less than what you've listed there.

Round 1 This is annually one of those events where you need to shoot ridiculously low scores and make a lot of putts to have any chance of winning. A few snapshots that show what I mean: there were 3 63s today. Apparently, that's more 63s than have happened all the rest of the year combined. A 66 didn't even get you a top ten. I spy a drivable par 4! Almost no Sisters on the broadcast. Last week's near winner Jeongeun Lee6 shot a 66 and merited just one televised approach shot on the show all day. Last week's runner up In Gee got a highlight (a pitch in on 18), but that's it. She shot a 68 and is already five back. No wonder Jin Young and Inbee skipped this. https://www.instagram.com/p/Ca61ykcg8dM Still, In Gee hit it 279 yards average and had 15/18 greens, but 30 putts, so she just needs to putt better and she could be a factor. Six averaged 291 yards (!) and had 8 birdies. A Lim also did well: five birdies, no bogies. Amy loves this place, having won 75% of her career wins here. She started with a 66. I figure that you probably need to average 66.5 per round to have a chance, so that's a decent start. I predict at least a 22 under winning score. Weirdly, most of the Thai ladies had weak days; defending champ Ariya was over par! Sure that won't last, though. Among Sisters from outside of Korea, kudos to Su Oh for a 63, her career best. Alison Lee 65 and Danielle Kang 66 also in the hunt. Hwaiting!

So Yeon Ryu minus three wasn't very good doing that birdie feast. She did finish with birdies on three of the last four holes. Two of those birdies were tap ins, which got her on the Broadcast. Her driving average were 245 and in the 250 area last Tournament. M Hyang Lee dumped McCormick, maybe So Yeon should do the same.

Being disapointed when one of my favorite players pars a par 5 is pretty natural for me. But I found myself disappointed when they pared par 3 's and 4's. It shouldn't be that way. I felt like that if a player didn't birdie a hole, they would fall down the leader board. That's not golf. I will take a tournament where the winner shoots 7 under anyday over a tournament where the winner shoots -29. Also a follow up on your comment that you can see why JYK and Inbee skipped a tournament like this. The only problem with top players skipping these birdiefests is that if you skip 4 or 5 five of them during the course of the year, it will have an affect on your chances of winning the Vare trophy.

The same tropical birds as Singapore. How can they fly there in time? McHale, Ensign Parker, Gruber & Leadbottom are all dead. Fuji is going strong. Genetics.
