Just announced....this is great news.
I attended the 2010 USSO at Sahalee. It is a very tight tree lined course with some elevation changes. How I describe Sahalee is to take any tough parkland private track and put it on steroids. The trees are so tall...that at times it's hard to watch the action.....especially if there are large galleries....I had to look under a tree when I was following Watson and Couple.
The 18 is an uphill beast.
This course will bode well for the precision Sista's. Wild drivers need not apply......lol.
Guess I now need to look for some flea bag motels....Phil help...lol. I'll likely stay in the Bellvue area.......I've found some deals before....I used to stay in Everett...but Bellevue is closer.
I better start s*cking up to MHL at the CP CWO to get a free pass for next year.
Women's golf finally returns to the Emerald City after the defunct Safeco....which I attended in the 90's and was a good tournament.
Could the PGA of America get Pebble, Medinah, Winged Foot, or other great global venues in the near future....if so..... they will have shown up the arrogant gee gee's at the USGA.

Very good news indeed. I'm counting down the days. I've never been to Sahalee before.

Awesome news indeed. I moved it to the 'News' section since it really won't be a tournament story until next year. FINALLY a tournament in my hometown!

Happy & Vern I don't know how many courses you've played or watched golf on.....but some holes on Sahalee are so claustrophobic.....it will make Columbia Edgewater seem like a corn field...there's not one hole at CE that comes close to the narrowness on some holes at Sahalee...some holes seem like you're hitting a ball down a bowling alley....lol.....you're in for a real treat......there's some elevation changes too.....hopefully they play the harder south/north 9's.
Although they hosted the 1998 PGA Championship....with the popularity of golf nowadays....it would be tough for Sahalee to host another men's major. On some holes it was hard enough to watch the USSO...never mind a men's major.
I believe Seattle will show some good support....the galleries were fairly large at the USSO and were also pretty good at the Safeco's too. Let's face it...Seattle is a pretty good sports town....too bad the Mariners are lousy nowadays. No other city comes close to the Sounders in filling a stadium.....it's great that 65-70,000 fans will pack Century Links stadium....the Vancouver Whitecaps are popular....but only about 28,000 per game.
It's outstanding that you have two fantastic baseball & football stadiums side by each....I luv Safeco Field.

Wow, I wouldn't think there would be many deals in Bellvue- certainly not the fleabag variety some found by the Shoprite! I think the best deal will be at my friends' condo in Bellvue

Back when I worked in Factoria, which is south of Bellevue, there was this really skizzy no-tell motel right next to our office called the Kandy Kane Inn or something like that. Alas, I think it has been a victim of progress in the years since. In terms of Bellevue, though, these days you won't find too many places like that anymore.

In 2009 we went down on a whim for the July 4th weekend. I got a smoking deal at a Bellevue Marriot Courtyard....we even had a room with a balcony overlooking the courtyard....a great full hot breakfast buffet included....$75/night for 1 night only....Saturday....and it included a $25 pre-paid VISA card...so net $50. Luv Merica!
Few hotels in Canada have all inclusive breakfast....but then again I've never seen a KFC all you can eat buffet in N. Carolina....and when I joked with the waitress at the Luxor in Vegas, that my wife's $10 bowling ball sized Cobb salad could feed a family of 5 for days in Canada....she didn't get it....lol.
Oh ya...we were going to head into Seattle to see the fireworks at the Space Needle...but found out Bellevue had it own fireworks.....the SN would have been better but the traffic would have been a gong show.

Sahalee is a beautiful venue and a great place for a major. I just hope the course doesn't produce another lucky winner like Singh.

Obviously, no flea bag motels when I'm travelling with the wife....so we stayed at a place...maybe like a Hampton Inn...I can't remember in Kent when the Safeco was played nearby. I'm a light sleeper, but my wife sleeps like a log. In the middle of the night...I hear a bang. When I check out the next morning...there are a lot of cops...I ask what's going on and they said there was an "incident". We get home that night...I'm watching KIRO news.....a chambermaid got in an argument with a manager....she later returned with a relative....something ensued...and the guy shot and killed the manager...WTF.

Good! I'm claustrophiliac - if that's a word. My co-worker asked if I was going to volunteer. I had thought about that I told him I might, probably for the first two days. We'll see.
