Round 1 Nice to see In Gee carrying on her form from her last Florida event. Fingers crossed we'll get to see her tomorrow! Jin Young shots a nice 68 to take the morning lead and at three back is in fine shape. Nice 2 under for Lee 6. Hwaiting!

The stakes feel sort of high for the Americans these days. Like, with every tournament they do not win, US women's golf gets pushed a little bit further into oblivion. Then again this is crucial, critical time for golf on TV. The final days of a prosperous era perhaps. Maybe the audience erodes regardless of the fortunes of Lexi, the Kordas, Michelle Wie etc.
Has anyone noticed the world rankings lately? I don't keep track enough to say with any certainty but seems like the top 100 has even more Koreans now. Q: Has the pandemic affected the global balance of power in women's golf? A: Who cares!

On the other hand they have been at it for +75 years and the LPGA President was able to leverage their success into the USGA job.

Time for Team Pano to hold a staff meeting and regroup. DFL. Even worse than Yani.
********
Someone needs to point out to the TV director what In Gee looks like. She's the top contender in the afternoon wave but -- a half hour in to the coverage -- she's yet to be seen.

Great round by In Gee Chun, had the one double bogey, but six birdies.
Chella Choi had another three under round tied for sixth place.
Jin Young Ko had a pedestrian round one bogey and one birdie. She has an outside chance but needs a really low third round.
Jeongeun had a mixed bag three birdies but four bogeys.
Glad to see Gabrielle Ruffels come back on the back nine after the one bogey front side. Turned it around with four birdies (three in a row) and one bogey.
Surprised that Sung Hyun Park scored so high. She only missed one Fairway and she is a really good iron player. But she hit only nine greens.

Round 2 In Gee with another very good day on the course. 13/18 GIR, but her really nice stat was 27 putts. I only caught the final few holes for her, but I loved the nifty late birdie on 16, which was something like 20 feet. You can feel she's in a good place; here's hoping the fun continues on Saturday! Not as great a day for Jin Young, but largely she was just a little off; not as close to the hole, and missing putts when she had them. 16/18 GIR, but 34 (yeesh!) putts. But despite that, she's still only 6 shots back. Not impossible if she rallies and goes low on day three. Six slightly over par, but not terrible, nine back. Chella has been solid, but at 4 back, the test starts now. Jenny Shin at 3 under, Amy Yang at 2 under. Namdalla is really in the weeds these days. +8, just 1 shot better than Fassi. Either she's still dealing with the effects of her injuries, or there's something far more troublesome happening between her ears. But it's still just her first event of the year, she has time to right the ship. Sisters hwaiting!

Surprised that Sung Hyun Park scored so high. She only missed one Fairway and she is a really good iron player. But she hit only nine greens. SH Park couldn't hit the greens because her drives were so short - she's at least 20 or 30 yds off her former self. Gotta do the work to build up her strength again after that shoulder injury in late 2019. Or else work on her long irons and hybrids. She's not had much competition experience in nearly a year... hope she gets it together. Yani seemed to be putting very well, but couldn't hit a fairway. Wonder if we'll see her at other tournaments. Word is that she's serious about a comeback this year, right? Not quite a believer in the new Ingee, but almost there... Would be so nice to see her keep up this great form.

I had forgotten Chella started out on the tour as a teenager. She had a torrid front nine but stumble badly coming in topped off by the ugly 7 on the par 5 15th where she couldn't stay out of the rough.
The two Kos are paired together tomorrow. Jin Youg just might pull this off. I wouldn't mind seeing Angel Yin finally pulling through though.
Okay, Golf Channel, you can take your focus off of Annika now. She's too tired to compete.

Round 3 In Gee and Jin Young swapped rounds on Saturday. Now it was Jin Young's turn to play great while In Gee had a muted third. Actually, Jin Young was kind of moving slowly until the back nine, where she made a gaggle of birdies to move to 10 under and tied for third, three back. In Gee was only 1 under, which believe it or not was her first round of 2021 not in the 60s. I hope they both saved their best for Sunday. Hwaiting!!!

Jin Young Ko top five her first Tournament back is still pretty great. She needed to go really low and help from Nelly to win , so a long shot anyway.
In Gee Chun and Chella Choi didn't have good final rounds, but top ten ties are pretty good. Chella Choi at 226 driving distance needed to be great with her hybrids and putting. Sei Young Kim after a lack luster three rounds had a minus six final round.
Jeongeun Lee6 just couldn't get anything going her first Tournament. Not to worry she will rebound the next Tournament.

Not the greatest day for the Sisters alas. After three pretty decent days, In Gee hit fewer than half of her greens today. The good news is she still managed to shoot an even par round despite her struggles. If her worst stuff is like that, she's going to have a great year. And she has two top tens already in 2021, as many as all last year. Jin Young just didn't have her putter working, but with her, you know that won't be the case for long. She or someone has to stop this ridiculous Korda winning stuff. Korea > Korda! We also managed two more top tens by Shin and Choi and a near miss by Amy, and Sei Young had a great 66 today. Six was not on her game all week, but I hope to see her right the ship soon. Sisters hwaiting! Jin Young In Gee Chella
