Adapted from a 2016 best selling novel of the same name, the recently released movie centers around a housewife who becomes a stay-at-home mother and eventually suffers from depression. The movie, like the book it was adapted from, explores the endemic sexism that women still face in everyday Korean life. Both have received backlash from a small yet vocal percentage of men because they felt that the men in the story were not accurate representations of male Koreans. Prominent actresses and female singers who've posted about reading the book were bombarded with vicious remarks on their social media, and when actress Jung Yu-mi was cast in the movie's lead role she suffered the same fate.www.bbc.com/news/world-asia-50135152Kevin
