WE'RE VOLUNTEERS OF AMERICA! VOLUNTEERS OF AMERICA! VOLUNTEERS OF AMERICA! VOLUNTEERS OF AMERICA!
********
Muni and Cheyenne are among 36 players volunteering their services in the Monday qualifier. Dylan Kim is also there...a good way to assess your game prior to Stage 2 q-school.

Yeah, I always have that song going through my head when I hear about this tournament. Pity the JOpen is this week, because I'm sure So Yeon would have enjoyed a hometown event.

Alison Lee is skipping this Tournament to play the Hana Financial. That's okay, except she is sitting at 102 on the LPGA Money List. Not sure about the Buick Shanghai, because they usually need players. But I don't think she qualify for the other Tournaments.

Glad Six is back. I've missed her, feels like it's been forever.

Round 1 I can't complain about my favorites on the first day! Pretty much everyone showed up and did well. They FINALLY talked about Six's way-cool putting stance, even showing a slow motion repeat. She shot a tidy 4 under par. Inbee also put herself on the map with a 4 under, and even In Gee had a strong first day showing with a -3. They showed her a lot, which was nice. It feels like forever since she got screen time. MJ Hur, Youngin, Sei Young and Sung Hyun also not far back. Inky and In Gee need to have a good week to earn a spot at the CME. Best of luck to them! Youngin Chun had six birdies, but a double and triple bogey erased five. She had only one other bogey, which is good. She and her dad/caddie are both Rookies. So both need experience on the courses. A good weekend will give her confidence for Q-School.
In Gee got it to seven under, but two late bogeys hurt. Inbee also made bogey on eighteen to drop to five under. Jeongeun Lee also at five under, just ran in place. All three, including Sei Young Kim are still in it.

The bottom feeders are rising to the challenge. Of the top 11 players, only two have ever won (Ariya and Georgia) ... even Fassi made the cut.
Not one of Dumbo's better outfits.

Round 2 A little more subdued for the Sisters today, but there's a huge gaggle parked at 5 under who could make a run on the weekend: Inbee, In Gee, Sei Young and Lucky Six. I have a feeling one or two of them at least will charge at the less accomplished players who are currently above them. Youngin made the cut and will be paired with Sung Hyun tomorrow. That oughtta be interesting for her! Sisters hwaiting!!

I'm here fellas.... I live 5 miles away, spent round 2 here, and the Pro-Am with Brooke Henderson. Have a little video footage too. Brooke was playing with #6 yesterday.

I'm not watching any of this today, but I definitely will tomorrow. No surprise that Alena Sharp fell apart on the weekend ... always does and at her age she's running out of time to get that first win. Well, there's still hope with the Vic Open still on the schedule next year. JM Green must think she is in q-school where she always plays her best golf. It is certainly an ominous sign to the bottom feeders that Lucky 6 and BadA$$ have gotten into position to wipe out everyone on Sunday, although I don't think Altomare is going away.
I tried to find a pic of The Rocket this week ... FORGET IT. Found one of J. Song from Thursday (below) ... going down the drain today. Last year with TM & Yamaha she ranked 83rd in GIR ... this year with PXG she is 145th ... attaboy Parsons, at least her sticks are "sexy".

Jeongeun Lee6 and Sei Young Kim are in position if the leaders falter. But I have a feeling at least one or two of them will hold serve.
Jeongeun reminds me of Jin Young Ko last year getting use to these greens. Her round could have been lower with just good putting. Like how Jin Young turned it around on the greens this year. I am sure with one year experience, so will she next year.

Round 3 So far this has been a good-but-frustratingly-close-to-great weekend. So Yeon and Jin Young both had great weeks but couldn't close the deal in Japan and Korea. Will we get a Sister to rise to the occasion in Texas, a place where they have amazingly won all but one of the playings of this event? The broadcast was a non-stop showing of the 4 Americans and Fassi. Did we really have to watch Fassi absolutely hack her way around the course to a 77, when there were so many others to watch who were playing better? And they just would not stop spinning it for her. Did you know it's tough out there when you turn pro and first join a pro tour? Well, I know now! Enough, guys! We get it, you love her, but please, can you wait until she's a little better before you force us to watch every shot? Lee 6 got some coverage thanks to her epic eagle on 13. She managed to play decently the rest of the way, but no more fireworks. Sei Young outplayed her in the same group, but I don't recall seeing her even once. So-so day for Inbee, but she still is in line for a possible top ten. In Gee could shot a fairly benign 71 and fell to 16th. But if she can just mimic day one on Sunday, she could nab her first solo top ten of the year. Come on, In Gee, we know you can do it! Meanwhile, it's a long shot, but perhaps we can end this weekend on a high note. Sei Young and Six are both capable of going low and are overdue a great round. Let's see if they can seize the initiative early and put some pressure on these rather lackluster players ahead of them. Those players will all be trying to follow up good rounds from today, and we know that usually doesn't go great. Let's end this full field season with a bang with a great comeback triumph. Sisters HWAITING!!!

On a leaderboard such as this the name Brittany Altomare looms pretty large. I'm not a fan per se but this poor lady gets so snubbed by USA Golf it makes me want to root for her. Commentators seem to snark on her a lot too, inexplicably.
