Minjee's win qualifies her for the USWO, but Alison will have a chance to go to a sectional after all: the USGA moved her into Tuesay's field in Mira Loma, CA where she becomes the only identifiable name to tee it up out there. If she should fail to advance from there she still has four more events before the Open and barring a win at any of those she could still make it to Lancaster by being inside the top 50 in the final Rolex Rankings before the championship: her solo 3rd at Kingsmill moved her to #61, up 39 places. Minjee's win vaulted her 40 spots to #19, close to overtaking Karrie Webb (#16) for top Aussie.Kevin Wow, I was not expecting Minjee to be anywhere near that high in the rankings! She has missed an oodle of cuts and not really played all that well in 2015, so how is she top 20? I guess it's cause she has so few events. (OK, I checked. Minjee has 24 events, Q Baek 43, and most of the other ladies around 55. So a win has a huge impact on her ranking. Still, I don't think she has yet earned top 20 placing; this strikes me as kind of a Rolex rankings anomaly. I'd put her top 40 for sure, though). Congratulations to Minjee, she earned it yesterday with some insane putting. I actually saw the remainder of the event this morning. Minjee made a silly bogey on the 16th but otherwise play very conservatively and won without too much sweat. She didn't seem that thrilled; I think it was more relief that she did what she had to after sleeping on the lead. It'll probably hit her later, though. I was glad to see So Yeon play so great today: three birdies in four holes and a nice par save on 18. I wasn't going to root for Minjee to screw up so So Yeon could win, so this result was about as good as I could have hoped for (although I guess I was rooting for So Yeon to ace the 17th ). Let's hope this puts her in line for some great stuff going forward! Good fifth for Hyo Joo as well. She's moved ahead of Feng back into 4th in the world (and So Yeon is up to 6th). Hwaiting!

Sigh. It can be so hard being a So Yeon Ryu fan sometimes. At least SYR gets into contention, is a premier pro and gets into the featured pairings for Thurs/Fri....you shouldn't complain. How about me?...my fav Sista is The Rocket....I never know if she will light it up or flame out before the launch pad....and rarely gets much coverage due to lack of contending. I'm surprised there's not much luvin for HYP on this site...seems like I'm the only Rocket fanboy....there are more HYP fanboys at WRX than here.....shame on you guys. On another note...has there ever been a frequent female posting member on this site?

On another note...has there ever been a frequent female posting member on this site? As an I.K. fan, I feel your pain! GC's coverage, (or lack thereof), makes it really hard to be a fan of players outside of their selected few. This year I'm trying to get myself to root for some of the newer players, like Alison and Minjee. So this week was pretty cool, although I missed most of the final round since I only dvr'd the coverage window on Sunday and didnt know there was a Monday finish. Oh well, happy one of my newer favorites won! Minjee has been hit or miss this year, sure she has missed 4 cuts, including 3 in a row at one point, but when she's made the cut she has played pretty well. Top 30 every time. To me that might just mean some adjusting to tour life has been taking place, but the talent is obviously there. So I think she is near a top-20 in the world talent, maybe just not with the top-20 in the world results yet. And I think a lot of us are probably fans of HYP and a lot of other players as well, HYP is one of my favs too. But it seems like we almost have no choice but talk about the only players we get to see every week! I remember a few years ago there was another big HYP fan that posted here regularly...maybe he got fed up with not seeing her on tv and lost interest...

Congratulation Minjee for her win. I was really hoping that So Yeon would win when she got in contention. She played good enough to win, but Minjee played better. Too bad that that M J made bogey on the last two holes. She could have had her first top ten in a long time.
Maybe the "Centurion Curse" has been removed and gone to Stacy Lewis.

Sigh. It can be so hard being a So Yeon Ryu fan sometimes. When So Yeon was tied at 11 under it really felt like she was about to kick it into another gear. Then she makes bogey on 10 and a string of near miss putts after that. Don't get me wrong: I like Minjee Lee a lot, and I'll be happy when (note when, not if) she wins tomorrow (she certainly deserves it), but Ryu is my favorite on the LPGA, and every once in a while I'd like to see her bring it on Sunday when she gets close. I hope she at least finishes strong and maintains a top five and brings some momentum into the next few weeks. Meanwhile, Alison Lee has played pretty well considering the nosebleed situation, and though Hyo Joo couldn't quite kick it into a high enough gear to contend, she's certainly having a nice week, so kudos to her. But I was most happy to see MJ HUR on TV again! Yay! Not going to be a top ten, but not bad at all. Shout out also to Soo Bin Kim and a t-25th. So when Minjee wins tomorrow, it will be a Lee Sweep: Jung Min on the KLPGA, Bo Mee on the JLPGA, and Minjee on the LPGA. Go Sisters!!! Hwaiting! I guess Ian Baker Finch didn't help her quite enough. I used to think she could be an all time great but her putter will always be an anchor around her neck. Sadly, golf always has and always will be about putting. Luckily SYR remains the most charismatic player on tour.

Luckily SYR remains the most charismatic player on tour. If she can play like she did on Monday morning a little earlier in the final round, she definitely has it in her to win multiple events. I'm cautiously optimistic. Here is what Finch tweeted to her after the tournament: "Happy to see @1soyeonryu with a great finish and 2nd place @kingsmilllpga Congrats young lady keep smiling and enjoy the journey."

I remember a few years ago there was another big HYP fan that posted here regularly...maybe he got fed up with not seeing her on tv and lost interest... Rocket and Inky are two of my top favorites as well. But I've kind of gotten used to the fact that they will only contend a few times a year, so I don't get so worked up about them when they have middling results (although it does bum me out if they have too many really terrible ones). But when I watch Ryu, I see someone who has the complete set of skills to be an all time great, and it's frustrating that she just can't seem to get over the hump. I mean, this is a girl who has had 15 top tens in two of her first three seasons and I think 12 in the other one, and just two wins. Korda and Mirim Lee have that many wins with far fewer top tens. I just want to see her live up to the potential she has, because I think it would be glorious to watch! The only other favorite of mine who is so far not living up to her her potential to that degree is probably Q Baek, but she's still young and new to the States so I can wait. But I feel Baek, too, has it in her to be at least a top ten golfer and possibly much more. We'll see how it goes! We saw how Minjee went from zero to winning all of a sudden, perhaps Q has a week like that in her sometime soon!

From WRX...is it true that Minjee is a member of Mensa and a really bright young lady?
Aren't there other Koreans who are really intelligent?

Are you sure he's not confusing Minjee and In Gee (Chun)? Chun IS a member of Mensa. I do know there's at least one other Mensa member on the KLPGA (I think Hye Rim Choi?).
