Beth Ann Nichols has given it more thought golfweek.com/2018/04/22/nichols-no-easy-answers-for-lpga-with-addition-of-augusta-national-womens-amateur/How can you say ‘no’ to Augusta? Jessica Korda, a self-described Augusta nerd, joked about getting her amateur status back for the event. As an unwitting youngster, she thought playing in the Masters was a reasonable goal. “How do you tell a kid to play in the ANA if they have the opportunity to play at Augusta National the Saturday before (the Masters) and you see all the PGA Tour players getting ready?” Korda said. “Honestly. How?” Danielle Kang chooses to look beyond the date conflict and focus on what she believes is a step forward. “I don’t want it to be so greedy,” Kang said. “I’m just really thankful that there is a women’s tournament at Augusta. I think that’s a huge move. That’s what I keep telling people, whatever the dates are, whatever the event is … at the end of the day, for the first time in the history of golf, there’s a women’s tournament at Augusta National. I think that itself is beauty.”

I help my two daughters any way that I can as well. So what does that have to do with this.
There are a lot of ways that they could have helped women's golf. So why pick a date a week before the LPGA major. As for as I am concerned, I think it's just a PR stunt. They have never cared about women golfers. Took a protest for them to let even one woman join.

In addition, the LPGA’s contract with Golf Channel ends in 2019, and no one knows for sure what 2020 and beyond might bring to the women’s professional tour. I wouldn't be surprised if Fox put in a bid for the package. They can fill out their calendar and help amortize the costs from their limited USGA schedule. And it would offer much more opportunity for weekend LPGA coverage to appear on a broadcast network, which is something Whan has been pleading about for years. The so-called major ANA doesn't even have any broadcast network coverage now.

jumpcutIt'd be a great deal for both Fox and LPGA; hope it happens.

jumpcut It'd be a great deal for both Fox and LPGA; hope it happens. Not a great fan of Fox. But it would be better than Golf (PGA) channel. Not to mention when you travel, most hotels don't offer the Golf Channel.

Many insights from this article The Forecaddie: Seeking answers to questions around Augusta National Women’s AmateurWhat NBC did to secure the rights for Year One will be known to only the few folks inside the room. But The Forecaddie hears CBS made a hard push to televise the ANWA despite speculation that Saturday night’s NCAA Final Four coverage might have impacted their thinking. TMOF hears NBC/Golf Channel’s devotion to telling the Drive, Chip and Putt stories was a huge part in the decision to go with the peacock, as was the availability of Tirico, who gives the broadcast instant gravitas. And never sell short the growing prominence around Augusta National of Comcast chairman Brian Roberts, a key driver of the DCP, head of the Masters website committee and consigliere to former chairman Billy Payne. Comcast, in case you hadn’t heard, owns NBC and Golf Channel.

The course is a joke. Might as well play a video game, it's as realistic as Augusta.

jumpcutGood point about diminished junior event! ANWA will take top 30 Americans in WAGR (World Amateur Golf Ranking); that will include up to 15 cream of the corp junior players. Will those 15 players play ANA Junior Inspiration one week before ANWA; unlikely.
