I'm the kinder, gentler marshal. BTW, the PGA made a marshal's job MUCH easier earlier this year. In June, we were told to look the other way if we see someone taking a picture with their cell phone. By September, they were proactively promoting those photographs. I'm not sure if the LPGA changed their policy. I was working with a marshal, in September, that Mr3Put mentioned. No one really liked to work with him. After a group had cleared the green, he walked over and chewed me out because "the guy standing right next to you was taking pictures." I didn't say anything, but was laughing inside. I told the hole captain about this. He told me to tell the guy to RTFM, to use a term from when computer programs used to come with a printed manual. When a popular golfer is shooting, and I see all the cell phones out, I'll move away from the crowd and get down on one knee, so people can get a better picture. I told you there's a fair share of d*ckhead volunteers....you should have told him to FO. It's hilarious how so many vols take the position so seriously and they aren't even getting paid.
