The United States Golf Association today announced Chicago Golf Club, in Wheaton, Ill., and Pine Needles Lodge & Golf Club, in Southern Pines, N.C., as the host sites of the inaugural 2018 U.S. Senior Women’s Open Championship and 2019 U.S. Senior Women’s Open Championship, respectively.
I have seen the preliminary exempt list, and it contains one Korean. She is Pearl Sinn.

And so it begins for the Senior ladies. Go Pearl! Now for the bad news; the First Wave of Koreans, Se Ri, Mi Hyun, Grace, Soo Yun, etc., are all only about 40 years old. That's a ten year wait to see them again.

Back in the 90's at the Safeco Classic....I remember seeing an Asian dressed in all black....black turtle neck and black pants....it was Pearl....I had to look up the player's tee sheet to figure who she was. In 1994...my friend said I want to follow this Swede....I said who...he said Annika Sorenstam...I said....never heard of her.....lol. Back then..... I was ALL IN for Jan Stephenson. I remember Jan hitting out of a fairway bunker at Merdian Valley.....she skulled it......then you heard Jan yell: "There's NO F****** sand" Then Jan looked over at me and said..."You Asians are RUINING THE WORLD".

I haven't played a Seth Raynor or C.B. Macdonald but I've played a Cleo McDowell. They had the golden age, Cleo had the golden gauge. If it rained w/in the last 24 hours you played for $5. The routing was great but it was so wet you had to cut the air pockets before you swung or the ball would move on your back swing.

"You have to attend...otherwise...no way would a white boy like you would ever get a chance to see Chicago Golf Club."
One of the great things about professional tournaments for bottom feeders like me is the chance to actually see the inside of private clubs.
Normally, I would work this tournament as a volunteer, but it coincides with the men's senior tournament in Highland Park, Illinois, and I signed up for that one first.

The Champions Tour is playing at Highland? I have volunteered once...the 2003 BMO CWO. I'd only volunteer nowadays at a USO just to get a weekly badge that costs $500....the $175 vol pkg includes 2 shirts, wind jacket & hat and a weekly badge. I'd try to do all my 4 shifts from Mon-Wed.....so I could go watch from Thurs-Sun....I'd want to work the range.

"The Champions Tour is playing at Highland?"
Yes, and it is a major.
Working the tournament generally costs about $125. The usual haul is a shirt, cap, jacket, tickets to give away, plus you get free food while working. Free admission when you aren't working. Free parking. Free verbal abuse from Suzann Pettersen during LPGA tournaments.
I always work as an inside the ropes marshal.
"I'd only volunteer nowadays at a USOpen"
I put in for the 2020 Ryder Cup. Unfortunately, the crowds get out of control during the RC.

You do know some of the senators are dbags...with a*shole Tom Watson leading the way. 2) Tutta certainly can be crusty....but she's never known to be abusive to fans, staff or vols.....you have seen otherwise?...if yes...please give me an example(s). 3) IMO....I think marshaling is boring....oh ya...most vols are idiots who are CLUELESS and take their role too seriously. 4) Being a marshal at the RC would be brutal dealing with all the drunk d*ckheads.

There are jerks everywhere.
2) Tutta certainly can be crusty....but she's never known to be abusive to fans, staff or vols.....you have seen otherwise?...if yes...please give me an example(s).
A marshal pointed out the location of her ball, which was behind a tree. With no tact, she made it clear she knew where her ball was.
3) IMO....I think marshaling is boring....oh ya...most vols are idiots who are CLUELESS and take their role too seriously.
Thank you.
4) Being a marshal at the RC would be brutal dealing with all the drunk d*ckheads.
Marshals are NOT security. The conduct at the Ryder Cup on both sides of the pond has gotten out of hand. It certainly betrays the spirit of the game.

I'm the kinder, gentler marshal. BTW, the PGA made a marshal's job MUCH easier earlier this year. In June, we were told to look the other way if we see someone taking a picture with their cell phone. By September, they were proactively promoting those photographs. I'm not sure if the LPGA changed their policy. I was working with a marshal, in September, that Mr3Put mentioned. No one really liked to work with him. After a group had cleared the green, he walked over and chewed me out because "the guy standing right next to you was taking pictures." I didn't say anything, but was laughing inside. I told the hole captain about this. He told me to tell the guy to RTFM, to use a term from when computer programs used to come with a printed manual. When a popular golfer is shooting, and I see all the cell phones out, I'll move away from the crowd and get down on one knee, so people can get a better picture.
