The KLPGA's most recent superstar...was a scrub for many years:

Her first pro year was 2009 on the Dream Tour, where she had three top-tens in nineteen starts. The chart below shows her money list ranking from when she first made it the KLPGA's big tour in 2010. She bombed badly at year-end q-school in 2010 and was demoted to the Dream Tour for 2011. She didn't do much when she returned to the big tour in 2012, but during the off-season she met her current coach Seong Hyeon Ahn (they had the same management company). I like this translated quote of Ahn when he first looked at Kim:
"At first, it was a nasty 'bad swing,' a body and a swing playing separately."
A few other details from the article:
* Kim didn't pick up golf until first year of junior high...did short track skating during elementary school.
* Ahn began as a touring pro in 2005, but hurt is back soon afterward and decided to go into instructing instead...has studied the American methods and Trackman technology.
* Ahn married Korean actress Yu-ri Sung in June...not a publicity stunt, they had dated for four years. More on her:

The above video with Kim and Ahn shows her Before and After swings starting at 0:44.

Kim's last amateur season was 2008...I looked the big events on the Korea Golf Association website to see how she did. She had one second place finish and another that was DFL. Most of her results were middle/upper middle of the pack.

In the above interview, she expressed no interest in joining the LPGA full-time, even if she won the LPGA's Kia Classic in 2018. She thinks she'd be too old to "start over". In another interview I think she said she might try the JLPGA later on.

Although she is one of the most visually imposing players I have ever seen on the KLPGA, it doesn't detract from her overall attractiveness as shown here:
