The summer trek through the desert (fortunately with a cart) for 366 bottom feeders will take place Aug 24-27 at Mission Hills CC. A cut will be made after the 3rd round and anyone shooting 88+ during the first two rounds will be trunk slammed by the LPGA & Symetra tours for the 2018 season.
There is a tiny number of shimmering nuggets in this pool of washouts...such as Sierra Brooks(A)...and Mathilde Cappiliez(A)...and Jennifer Hahn...and Regina Plasencia...and Robynn Ree(A)...and Katie Detlefsen...and Muni He(A).
***********
On a related note, any non-LPGAer in the top-40 of the Rolex Rankings as of Aug.7 can go directly to Stage 3 of Q-School in late November. That field could potentially include:
Hye Jin Choi(26) Jeong Eun Lee 6 (31) Teresa Lu (32) JY Shin (33) Hae Rim Kim (35) Ai Suzuki (37) Bo Mee Lee (39)
I'm not counting Ha Na Jang(15), since she wouldn't need to play Q-school to return to the LPGA.

What is the minimum LPGA events to keep your membership...15. 16??? Ha Na needs to return to the LPGA...play the minimum + FAKE majors and then play the KLPGA and spend time with mom.
LPGA school is such a CASH COW...Whan should be ashamed letting so many play so he can pad his expense account. 346 of the 366 entrants have no business playing in PS...just sayin.
I noticed there are so OLD wash-outs playing.

Jeong Eun6 Lee will win the ANA next year. Because I will be there to cheer her on. I wont jinx her like I did Jin Young Ko. Who may not make it back there next year.

If CYBORG doesn't attend Q school...just another one to put on the long list of poor Korean execution.

I noticed there are so OLD wash-outs playing. Maybe someone can correct me, but I never heard of such a rule. The PGA Tour had a 15 event minimum rule back in the '80s and '90s and hit Seve over the head with it many times...I don't know if that rule still exists. The LPGA had a rule about requiring a player to play a particular tournament at least once every four years...was it ever observed or enforced? I doubt it, since it was totally unrealistic. Lots of the big names would skip Corning every year, but Bivens solved that problem by killing the tournament and giving the club a tombstone plaque. I assume the money list is the determining factor...with 13 events in the bank, Inky could skip the rest of the 2017 and retain full membership for 2018. Did Jang tear up her membership when leaving the LPGA? Her profile is still on the website, but her T-49 result in the RWBO was not added. With four recent LPGA wins, logically she shouldn't have any problems becoming an LPGA regular again. But, would she scurry back to Korea again the next time Dumbo gives her the Evil Eye? Cyborg won't need Q-school if she wins the Evian or Hana Bank...which is doable. I wonder if she'll go after some sponsor exemptions for the LPGA's Asian swing?

As per a post from Happyfan...seems like CYBORG might join the KLPGA...therefore she'll have to stay there for 2 years...what a JOKE. CYBORG BELONGS on the LPGA...we need her to come her and destroy the Yanks.
With 20 spots available at Q-school...it would be hard for me to say she wouldn't capture one...if indeed she did fail...yes..... go play the LPGA, KLPGA and JLPGA as a non-member pro on invites....and play/qualify for the FAKE majors.
I appreciate how she has focused on length....initially I was worried about her strength....she has proven her distance at the GREAT GREAT man's course.

Choi has stated that one of her goals is an Olympic gold medal...getting on the Korean team is the hard part and tearing up the LPGA is the only way to do it. If she picks up a BIG win in the next three months, Whan will have to let her in...assuming she wants in. Too bad she is making her pro debut at the KLPGA's Hanwha. Instead, she could have gotten an invite or Monday qualified at Portland that week and wipe out everyone (except maybe Brooke). Has anyone else on this forum seen her play in person besides me? Maybe portsea has been at one of her international stops...if so, I'd like to hear his opinion on her game.

Hye Jin could play on the KLPGA in 2018 and 2019 and possibly still make the Olympic team if she comes over to the LPGA in 2020. KLPGA players have been in or near the top ten in the world before without playing here, but obviously that requires super domination on the home tour and some good results when playing over here.

I noticed that the Stage 2 had the same deadline as Stage 1 for its field. Stage 2 has the usual suspects (Kim Welch, Shannon Fish, Jean Reynolds, Grace Na, Veronica Felibert, etc.) along with a healthy number of LET pros (gee, I wonder why). There's also a small number of JLPGAers (Ah Reum Hwang, Ayaka Watanable, Ayaka Matsumori, Fumika Kawagishi), as well as Eun Jeong Seong. Lastly, a couple of prominent college amateurs are in, Leona Maguire and Cheyenne Knight. At least 50 players will advance from Stage 1 to Stage 2.

Formal Big Break Kim Welch and ex USC Trojan Veronica Felibert are long shots. To say the least. Kim is really getting to old. Veronica is having trouble making cuts on the Symetra Tour.

I shake my head how so many women and men continue to chase their pro golf tour dreams with never having a chance to make a living on the SHOW. Kim is a nice young lady...watched her play and chatted with her in 2012.

They tee it up tomorrow. www.desertsun.com/story/sports/golf/2017/08/22/pressure-packed-qualifying-lpga-hopefuls-start-week/591258001/From the above article...this player thinks a regular gig on the Symetra tour would be "great" : So as much as the numbers might be stacked against the record 362 players in the field in Rancho Mirage starting Thursday, there is hope for a career-changing moment this week.
“I don’t see it as the odds are against me, it's more like, I’m here, I’ve done this before, just get it done,” said Simone Strauss of Rancho Mirage. “That’s all I am thinking, just get it done.”
Strauss, a 2009 graduate of Palm Desert High School where she played for the school’s golf team, has played in the Stage I qualifier pretty much every year since high school. These days the 26-year-old plays most of her golf on the Arizona-based Cactus Tour while hoping to play well enough in the Stage I event each year to move forward. This year the top 90 players from Stage I after Sunday’s round will move on to Stage II in Florida.
“It would be a big deal for me if I can just get out of here. I want to get out of Stage I,” Strauss said. “It would be awesome if I could just get to a point where I can get good status on Symetra and play every week. That would be great. It’s hard to play bad when you are playing every week.”
The article also says the oldest competitor is Janelle Wilson at 54.
