Hmmm, I was planning to drive down to Lafayette, IN on Thursday for 7 rounds of golf. However, I may change my plans and head to Ann Arbor, MI for 5 rounds, and stop by the tournament on Friday. The weather forecast for both places looks pretty much the same with temps in the mid 70's and a chance for T-storms.

Good news! LPGA Volvik Championship in Ann Arbor sees more sponsors, ticket sales www.crainsdetroit.com/article/20170521/NEWS/170529987/lpga-volvik-championship-in-ann-arbor-sees-more-sponsors-ticket-salesKeith Karbo, tournament director, said "tickets are selling nonstop" and that more have been sold than last year, although he could not provide the number. About 30,000 tickets were sold for the entire tournament week last year. There are a few more sponsors this year than the 84 last year, Karbo said. There are more than 20 new sponsors, including Japanese automaker Infiniti, Detroit-based Faygo and Selfridge Air National Guard Base in Harrison Township.

Ariya is defending again this week; but it feels like ages since Ariya last won.
LPGA is tough; any player not named Michelle Wie can easily be swept away if not contending for a week or two.

So will there be a parade for hometown gal...Jennifer Song ......and will the LOVELY HYP be joining J. Song in the convertible as co-grand marshal for the parade.
J. Song is intelligent and I'm sure she'll be waving her American passport during the parade even though Jenn doesn't have any white faced friends.

A new week and new hopes for Nelly, Nasa and Paula.
The goal is easy for Nasa; make the cut and stop the cut streak at 3. Not a big challenge also for Paula to improve her best finish of T47 on a full field event .
Nelly needs to step up and finish T6 or better to have any chances of catching Angel Yin for second place on ROY race.

Faygo is a sponsor? Will the Insane Clown Posse perform? Will there be a gathering of the juggaloes at the tournament? (for you old folks: this group has a dedicated bunch of fans called 'juggaloes' who gather every year for a big concert/festival. Faygo is their official drink, and I thought no one on Earth drank it except them, because it is supposedly legendarily awful).

Last year, In Gee played Volvik right after Kingmill just like this year. She was T10 at Kingsmill and T11 at Volvik.
In Gee started 2016 strongly but went through a trough from late Arpil to missing cut at USWO and T13 at the Olympics. She started to recover at Women's British Open and culminated in her big Evian win.
This year has been different; she's been sandwiching good and poor tournaments with no discernible patterns.
Volvik is important; we'll find out whether In Gee can sustain strong performance over a stretch of time.

There's a fried chicken joint in my town that sells Faygo. The only place I know that does.

There's a fried chicken joint in my town that sells Faygo. The only place I know that does. Until today I had never heard of this particular brand of soda, but then again I imagine that there are few people outside of New England who have heard of Moxie either, supposedly made from gentian root extract, whatever that is. Believe me, it's an acquired taste, but it was the favorite drink of President...Calvin Coolidge.Kevin
