If you were a producer at the Golf Channel and you had a mortgage to pay and a kid to go to school, you would do EXACTLY the same thing. As long as they also show a few highlights of the Queen Bee, I have no complaint. As the saying goes, "If you listen to the fans keyboard jockeys you’ll find yourself sitting with them". Ya, Mr. Mell was rolling out his Wie article today whether she won or not. He's right, of course, Wie is the biggest star on the LPGA. It's also done damage to the LPGA brand to show struggling american golfers chopping and hiding behind sunglasses. It's impossible to fake fun on the golf course. I'm not blaming Wie, PC and SL. But the GIC would be better off showing golfers happy to be there. You are right. I don't know why I bothered making that post. So how about that Sung Hyun Park? Some kind of rookie, huh ?

OK...let's do a bet. The LOVELY HYP vs. MHL. 2017 full year.....best avg. winnings per event played. Payoff....assuming I'm able to post from Jan-Feb/2018....if I win...you can't post about any black hair yellow skin pro on the LPGA....if I lose...I cannot make a sarcastic or negative post (I know...I know...it will be painful for me) from Jan-Feb. If can't post during the first 2 months....then the bet time frame is Mar-Apr. I think you have an advantage....now that the Rocket has 'INTERESTS' outside the ropes....she won't be quite as focused on golf....whereas papa Lee will shove golf down MHL's throat.....unless she wins 5 majors. I'm already ahead, but I PASS. I'm not going to debase my adulation for Mi Hyang by making her a wagering object. Also, I don't see any benefits in the "payoffs". Why would I want to help turn this forum into another version of Rusty's graveyard?

Plus I think something happened between the start and end of the golf season that had the GIC thinking they need to go all in on "USA". I sense a change in tone about how all golf is covered. No i will not be more specific.

I have no problem with them talking about Wie when she actually plays well. She was the top American in the field after all. As long as the winner comes first, and the Inbee article was up before the Wie one was. Let's face it, the reason Michelle is the "top" player on tour in the eyes of the media comes down to one thing: she played the PGA tour as a 13 year old. The vast majority of golf writers could tell you every detail of the 100th ranked PGA pro but don't know a thing about the women. When this girl shows up in Hawaii to play, she immediately became the best women's golfer in the world. And the hype has fed on itself ever since. It got so bad that at the first Major she attended, I remember Kelly Tilghman saying, before it started, that Michelle Wie was a top contender to WIN. Oh, and also Annika. Annika came second. And this was the year after Sorenstam had won 11 times. Annika decided there and then that she had to play the men, too. And that's how Colonial came about. And it worked. That's why Annika ended up on the Tonight show. Not because she won 11 times in 2002, but because she missed a cut in 2003.

I have already posted this, but I will do it again. When Michelle Wei played her first tournament in Phoenix. They had to scramble to add more buses. They didn't expect to have such a large crowd. We waited in line almost an hour. She still draw a high number of casual fans.

Right from the start the male dominated golf media decided she was THE ONE. And that's because she played against the PGA pros. Obviously if she could do that she has to be the best woman, right? That media hype in turn caused her to be the only female player people have heard of, so of course the casual fan knows about her and no one else. Hence the bus situation.

I think Wie might be sponsored by a K-tape company. I'm sure she has aches and injuries but.
