Was it really the top-40 that gets full privileges? Do they have alternate lists over there? Looks like Sharon dropped the ball.

Glad to see Chie Arimura make it. It would be a shame after the success she had before on the JLPGA Tour to not make it. She just was too short off the tee to make it on the LPGA Tour.. Anyway she gave it a shot.

I read an article on the Korean internet that said that a major Japanese newspaper, reporting on the Q-School, said that "a new Korean Beauty" named Chae Young Yoon will be joining the tour next year. The Japanese article mentioned both Bo Mee Lee, this year's top player, and Ha Neul Kim, the winner of the final Major of the year, as previous beauties who have done well on tour.
It's interesting how much more up front the Japanese press is about stuff like that than the American press seems to be.

Wonder why she waited until almost 30 to take the plunge!

I am not sure if that is correct because I have been following the JLPGA for almost 20 years and always the top 40 who qualify play all the events bar the Japan Women's Open, Toto Japan Classic and JLPGA Tour Championship. Take for example last year the player who finished 45th in qualifying played 25 events, Generally it works like this Top 40 full cards 41 - 50 18 - 25 events 51 - 60 10 - 15 events. Maybe something has changed but i have not read anything on the JLPGA website Sharon on her instagram says in her own words - Thank you Japan for the amazing experience, see you next year!
I can't wait as she will be huge in Japan if she becomes a successful.
What a comedown for Rikako Morita, former # 1 to probably only getting to play about 10 events next year according to golfdigest Japan article i read the other day.
Next year will the the fewest number of Koreans who have full cards and I'll include Sharon as per above. I believe it will 14 as opposed to 18 the last two years.
I think the KLPGA is holding on to it's players due to it's impressive schedule this year.

It's a surprise that only 17 out of 40 Korean players in Rolex top 100 play LPGA; the rest of 23 either play KLPGA or JLPGA.

Are there sponsor invites in JLPGA events?....how many can a player receive per year?
I suspect the Japanese Plastic Surgeon Association will be a new sponsor for Sharon in 2017.

It's interesting how much more up front the Japanese press is about stuff like that than the American press seems to be. It's a joke how PC we are in North America. One can be rung up for harassment in the workplace for giving a lady a genuine and sincere compliment. Hopefully the GREAT MAN will change things.

mr3puttDo you have daughters or grand daughters? The American and Canadian way has its merit too.

mr3putt Do you have daughters or grand daughters? The American and Canadian way has its merit too. One step daughter....and 7 grandsons....not one granddaughter.....a crazy and unlikely probability on the grandchildren. [ HappyFan wearing Admin hat: the next few sentences Mr3Putt wrote are exactly the kind of politically charged conversation I would like to avoid around here. I really do want to keep this site focusing on golf, so I'm removing it. Thanks for your understanding!]

I think the KLPGA is holding on to it's players due to it's impressive schedule this year. Not that I doubt you, but the Korean articles I have read say that Ahn "failed to advance", which I'm taking as meaning she didn't get a tour card. I would think if she had made it, she would be included in the same articles as Chae Young Yoon and Min Young Lee, but she isn't. Also, one of the articles I read specified the 'top 35' cut off for earning cards. 'See you next year' might mean 'see you at Q-School next year'?
