I agree So Yeon is really underachieving. To see so many golfers that is not nearly as talented as she is with wins the last two years. Is a mystery to me. However to call her a "mediocre golfer" I guess it makes him feel good about himself. So be it. Two factors at work. First, you have Lydia, Ariya, Minjee, Sei Young, Haru, Brooke, Inbee, Lexi and Ha Na will multiple wins over the past 2 years. They're almost always in contention, so not only does a player have to have a strong week, they have to hope one of them doesn't get hot. So Yeon has played very well on a number of occasions, only to come up short when another players gets hot. Secondly, So Yeon seems to always have a mediocre round in her, typically the final round. She obviously puts a lot of pressure on herself, and it shows. She's not the only player with this problem, e.g. Danielle, but it often means the difference between winning and losing. Fundamentally, winning generally boils down to having a hot putter. When Lydia, Ariya, Inbee, Minjee, Ai, et. al, won, it was their putter that did it. Heck, even Lexi wins when her putter is half-way cooperating. No surprise, as all the top women are phenomenal ball strikers. The putter is the make or break club. Unfortunately, it's also So Yeon's Achilles heel.

It makes more sense to me that So Yeon is overachieving to be where she's at. She seems like such a smart, diligent worker.
I guess you'd have to point to a 4th round scoring average that is markedly worse than her competitors but I'd want to see the data on that.

The articles denouncing the revival of Michelle Wie after her recent rounds have been piling up; many more than last week's winner Minjee Lee and this week's leader Amy Yang.
We probably won't see in our lifetime golfers more beloved than Michelle Wie and Tiger Woods.

I never see photos or videos of Inbee Park lifting weights, jogging in place or posing on a mountaintop. If she'd only been dedicated, she could have made something of herself.

Thanks. Whan seems like a nice, knowledgeable guy. But, I don't trust a commissioner, who doesn't divorce his wife and marry one of the players he supervises. Went back and picked up where I left off reading about the tournament. Why hang out at the beach with all the beautiful women when you can read the comic genius of"fanofseri".

I am somewhat skeptical of Michelle's potential for victory but the stats indicates a rock solid performance on Day One. It was only two years ago that she won the US Open and should have won ANA. If she is in the lead on Sunday, the telecast will only require one television camera. That would just be fine with this fanboy. No DVR needed no fast forwarding. Only problem, Fox isn't showing it over here. I did see a commercial for the LPGA but haven't seen jack all. Maybe they were talking about the weekend. Can't make heads or tales out of that Korean link maybe don had more luck. No love for the big Wiezy on Seoul Sisters. In 2013 up in Portland 3-Putt caught up to me and asked where I was, "following Michelle Wie". "Michelle Wie!?! Why"? Then we watched her hit her new stinger off of the 18th tee, "that's why".

This is the worst scenario for In Gee's Vare Trophy hope; almost everybody is under par.

Mi Hyang fighting! She clawed back to Even par with four birdies and one bogey on her first nine holes.

In other golf news, The Sanya Ladies Open in China is wrapping up its 3rd(final) round on Saturday. Xi Yu Lin was going for a three-peat this year, but completely bombed out from the start.

UPDATE: I forgot to mention the Pirate Invitational at Trump National/Bedminster this weekend (Seton Hall U. is home team). I've never attended women's college golf before and they're playing the final round on Saturday. I was inclined to go until I read the scores from Friday's first round. They played the New course set at 5,902 yards...out of 75 players from 14 schools only two broke 80! Those two best scores were 78 and 79!
Instead, I should have planned to watch Princeton U. play their home tournament earlier in October...half their team is Asian and routinely break 80.

As of now, Lydia has a 5 shots lead over In Gee on Vare Trophy.
Lydia could make it out of reach by shooting another low round Sunday.

So you tellin me white women can't golf....ya there were only five Asians in the Pirate field. If these white women have any chance at competitive golf....they need to enroll in The Great Doctor's robot factory.
