Coates went away? There's a surprise... I would sooner they co-sanction more KLPGA/JLPGA events than the New Zealand event, and with all due respect to Indianapolis, Seattle proved there is interest in women's golf here. WHERE IS THE SEATTLE TOURNAMENT? Get on the stick, Mr. Whan...

From a logistical stand point a NZ event would be a great idea, if they had back to back events down this way then it would make it far more appealing to travel this far and they might actually get decent fields. Don't see it happening though, I doubt they could get the money together to make it work.
I like the idea of the Ladies Scottish Open being included, get them out in the wind and rain a couple of times a year! I remember them talking about a substantial prize money lift in that event when I watched it earlier in the year, it never crossed my mind that the LPGA might jump on board. This is also smart logistically, they are over there for the Ricoh anyway.
I doubt we'll ever see more co-sanctioned KLPGA/JLPGA events, given the Hana Bank has only recently become a 72 hole event and the Japanese leg is still 54 holes I get the impression the Koreans and the Japanese don't want the LPGA around..

Coates went away? There's a surprise... An idiot could have figured Coates would bite the dust. Randall Coates is not a smart man...letting Molly burn a hole in his wallet and IMO...she's not even arm candy...nuff said.

Happy....I don't know if you attended the Safeco Classic....it was a really good event....Meridian Valley is a pretty good course too....not a goat track. I've been a bit occupied...wish I could have attended the Jays vs. Mariners games these past 3 days. Safeco Field looked like Rogers Center with all the Jays fans. Each day there was a 2 hour wait to cross the border.

For whatever reason, I don't remember the LPGA's Nov. 2015 announcement regarding the 2017 Green Bay event. This February article spells out the particulars: www.greenbaypressgazette.com/story/sports/golf/2016/02/11/dates-set-lpga-event-thornberry-creek/80252318/Dates set for LPGA event at Thornberry Creek USA TODAY NETWORK-Wisconsin 4:37 p.m. CST February 11, 2016
The dates for an LPGA Tour event at Thornberry Creek at Oneida have been set.
According to the Kalihwisaks, the official newspaper of Oneida Nation, the event will be July 3-9, 2017.
Thornberry Creek was announced as a host site by LPGA Commissioner Michael Whan during a news conference in November.
LPGA wants to build area ties
The Oneida LPGA Classic will be the first time a sanctioned LPGA or PGA competition is held in the Green Bay metro area. Green Bay Country Club hosted the Great Lakes Classic in the Women's Senior Golf Tour from 2000-2002.
Oneida Nation has agreed to a three-year deal with the LPGA Tour. The event will feature a full field of 144 players, who will compete for a $2 million purse, tied for the largest domestic non-major purse on the LPGA Tour.
The last time the top professional women were in Wisconsin was July 2012, when the U.S. Women’s Open was played at Blackwolf Run in Kohler.******** Maybe some of our board members with mid-west ties can provide a scouting report on this course and area. Thornberry Creek was opened in 1994. Tournament website: www.thornberrycreeklpgaclassic.com/

Tournament website: www.thornberrycreeklpgaclassic.com/We'll be playing Thornberry Creek with friends from Green Bay who won 4 rounds for this fall or next spring. However, I won't be playing the same tees the pros will play next summer. 😁 Evidently a number of the GB Packers play there.
