Japan Women's Open is shaping up to be quite a show; Jenny Money, So Yeon, Hyo Joo, In Gee, Ai Miyazato and Mika Miyazato are all listed in the field. Of the two which would be more prestigious between JWO and Korean Womens Open? Or is it about the same now.

The comments on Golf Channel's In Gee article have grown to 109; this is healthy. Maybe so. But quite frankly I find this site to be the most vibrant site for golf discussion, not only Korean LPGA players but LPGA players in general. Yes but I agree with 18Majors, it's great to see. Golf channel is more reflective of the wider golf audience. Mostly immature bro's or cranky old men. To me In Gee's appeal is mostly about the experiment of how big a star they can make her in America. Between her Agent and Dr. #1 they both know exactly what notes to play. It's a little comical at times. She's got an English dictionary in her pocket on the course now? Cmon. I hope it works tho because Merican golf fan is running out of players to cheer for and shows like Golf Channel MD have been largely incapable of covering Asian golfers as individuals. It's always "they" work hard. Well we already know "they'" work hard. It's time they are covered as individual stars. Whew, anyway.

JWO offers more Rolex points because the aforementioned LPGA players will bring unprecedented strength to the field. JWO offers about US$1.4 million in prize fund and the winner gets $280,000; which is higher than the winners of LPGA tournaments with prize fund of less than $2.0 million. Korean Women's Open prize fund is about $900,000; which is not even the highest in KLPGA schedule.

It's too bad In Gee doesn't scrip her outfits for the week via instagram or something. We could all get together wearing Thur/Fri/Sat/Sun at an LPGA event and get a SeoulSis team photo in the binder. OK...which member will be the 1st to get a Thank You Dumbo hat made and then get harassed by the LPGA security at an event next year...my money is on 18majors. But I can't see 18majors crying and shaking in front of the LPGA's J Edjar. Hopefully LPGA Sean gets with the program and starts selling Flying Dumbo hats in the pro shop at all the LPGA events in 2017. I'll be wearing my unofficial Dumbo ears at next year's KPMG Women's PGA at Olympia Fields CC. I noticed Ingee wore earrings on the course. Perhaps I'll pick her up a pair of these. 'Not too creepy I hope.

As much as I enjoy the rise of In Gee and So Yeon; it's concerning that only eight out of the top 25 on Rolex are non-Asians. Out of those eight, Brooke and Lexi are the only ones less than 29 years old. The message is clear, unless things change Asians will be more dominant in the foreseeable future. They haven't done it yet; but isn't it time Jessica, Nelly, Charley, Alison, Danielle, Gaby, Meghan, Annie and Hannah start to deliver it week in and week out on the course. Danielle needs to put four rounds together. She was back to her old ways at The Evian, putting herself into the mix on Thursday and Friday, and then fading fast on the weekend. Basically, all the players listed seem to have the same modus operandus. They are all capable of playing extremely good at times, but can't seem to string together four solid rounds. The top players may not shoot lights out all four rounds, but they don't shoot themselves in the foot, either.

That's why psycho-babble like "find something good in every shot" is just enough to get you the positive energy to hit one shot just a little better every 18 holes. Or you know what I mean anyway. The US is behind in fundamentals but that gap will close. Not sure we'll ever close the mental toughness gap. We don't seem to produce many Stacy Lewis's. In the US every kid gets a trophy. In ROK every kid gets a blister.

Hard to say which is more prestigious internationally, but probably Japan Women's Open based on the field. In terms of a Korean's heart, though, the K Open is the most prestigious domestic event bar none. It predates the KLPGA itself.

Invite So Yeon Ryu to do a playing lesson with the pros or in-studio appearance already! She speaks English well enough, is incredibly engaging, ultra talented, and easy on the eyes. What's the issue? (they had Inky on once a few years ago, but that's the only big time Korean star I've ever seen in studio on Golf Channel. Why not HYP, Na Yeon Choi, In Gee, Ha Na Jang? What the duffers in the audience could learn from a putting lesson with Inbee freaking Park!)

Ask any KLPGAer, and she would reply she would much rather win the Korean Women's Open than the Hanwha, which offers 300 million won more purse.

I just like to add, to the discussion about the great young players. It seems like five times winner Sei Young Kim is never mentioned. Her driver and aggressive putting hurts her sometimes. But there aren't too many finisher's out there better than her. Finishing is nothing new to her, she also did it on the KLPGA. So Yeon had a front row seat to one of those finishes. As she caught her on the back nine. Even then a par on eighteen would have given So Yeon the win. I believe it were the Hanwa.

In Gee is going to break their model though. It's so funny, even now they (some TV personalities and I think programming directors) probably deny that Americans want to watch her. They are SO dumb/stubborn there, but I can feel it changing. Just treat the Koreans like regular people and the golf audience will adopt them. Especially when the player is making a huge effort like In Gee and some others.

The comments on In Gee's article on TGC has grown to 120. It has legs, people are struck by it and hard to let go.
The best of all is that none of us participated; most of them know very little about LPGA, let alone Korean LPGA players.

I read a lot of it and was surprised that most of the people understood that it was a great performance. Hope the people at Golf Channel read it and realized people enjoy watching great golf. No matter what country you are from. It also helps that In Gee has a real nice personality. Next to So Yeon of course.

So Yeon can still do it; but she's to do it the hard way, ala Inbee's 3 majors in a row in 2013.

18majors, Are we really going to have to look at your Rory picture during Ryder Cup week?
