I probably love the Olympics more than women's golf to be honest, but since they only happen once every couple of years, that leaves women's golf to fill the gap the rest of the time. Big bummer! Kromowidjojo was right in the 50m free all the way. In fact, it looked to me like she was in the lead until about five yards to go, when she inexplicably got passed by four swimmers. This race is always really close, though, so it's hard to know what to expect. Apparently the King and Queen of the Netherlands were at the pool to root her on. Ouch! I hope they let her back in the country after this! My favorite event of the night was probably the 10K run. It was really cool watching how Mo Farrah kept the Kenyans on a hook for about 9600 yards, then put the hammer down and there was nothing they could do about it. Masterful!

The Korean archers had their best Olympics ever, which is really saying something. They have never before swept all the golds. I think this might actually be a good thing for the golfers, in that it takes a little of the pressure off of them. If the archers had underperformed, there would have been even more pressure for the Sisters to take medals.
On top of that, maybe the Sisters will be inspired by what the archers did. They are certainly aware of it.

Here's a funny photo of the king and queen of the Netherlands looking a bit bummed following Ranomi's failure to get a medal. "We are not amused".

A really exciting day at the Olympics!
I really enjoyed the 3m diving. The Chinese gals were just a cut above, and the order of finish seemed right. He Zi might have only gotten silver, but a few minutes later, she got a marriage proposal from a fellow diver. Awww!
The other medalists got a real kick out of it!
Esther Qin had a good showing, finishing 6th in her first Olympics. Good on ya!
Then the 400 m. I never thought I'd see the day when Michael Johnson's ancient records got broken, but that kid from South Africa did it! Wow!
Then we got to see Bolt do it yet again. That guy is insanely great, hilarious, and my daughter absolutely loved it when he picked up the stuffed cat and carried it around with him.

I would not want to follow the Korean archery team home if I were the golfers.

Yeah, the archers were already dominant, and somehow managed to exceed even those high expectations. Tough act to follow to be sure!
Didn't watch much Olympics yesterday, but I did catch the 400m run, where Felix almost made up a deficit, only to have the Bahamas racer leap across the line to touch her out for the gold. Surprised she got up after that!
I also watched the 800 m, which was fun. David Rudisha from Kenya won, as expected, but the interesting bit happened for Bronze. This French dude named Bosse had been strutting around pre-race like he was a big deal. He managed to get himself into third, but probably wore himself out trying to catch Rudisha. Thus, an American named Clayton Murphy came from well back and handed the Losse to Bosse, capturing the bronze himself. Great effort!

It has been a tough year for Allyson Felix. I believe she is the greatest athlete, born in Los Angeles, in the last 30 years. She is certainly the classiest. She'll be back for Tokyo 2020.

Yesterday's Olympics was boring...the only thing exciting was the Brazilian beating the French guy in pole vault.

Does that mean you had/have a body like these ? Huh...WTF...since when are you interested in a guy's body? Hmmmm.....are you now gonna tell me you're a Mark Tewksbury fanboy and your idol is Tom Abbott? ?.....just saying. Interesting... I don't full understand why I made that post. Perhaps I should do some soul searching and see if I am going to pull a Caitlyn Jenner...

Your dad will freak out at dim sum this Sunday if you bring up your Caitlyn tendencies.

Kinda classless from the lightweight boxing champ from Brazil not shaking hands/acknowledge his opponent after he found out he won gold.

I'm sure I'm not the only one who gets frustrated by NBC and their relentless focus on American athletes and a small subset of the sports in Rio. Sometimes, something interesting happens at an event they are televising, and they completely miss it in their speed to skip on to something else. Example: I saw the pole vaulting at a restaurant that was showing CBC yesterday, and it was riveting. On NBC, they showed a few vaulters every once in a while, then would quickly speed away to show something else. You can't appreciate it unless you see it straight I think. Another big miss came at the 100m Backstroke. They showed the event, but completely skipped over the bronze medalist, who has quickly become one of my favorite athletes around. Meet Fu Yuan Hui. The best way to describe Fu might be to call her the Tiffany Joh of swimming, only even more nutsy. Fu has quickly become a huge star in China thanks to her extremely goofy attitude and funny faces. In the semis for the 100 back, she swam her hardest, and managed to make the finals. She was darn happy about it: When she finished the finals, she managed to tie for third and win the bronze. Only, she didn't realize it until the reporter she was talking to told her. Her reaction is priceless! She was pretty happy to be on the medal stand. She told an interviewer she was glad she tied for third so she wouldn't be lonely on the bronze podium (!). Fu caused another uptick in her fame with her reaction after the Chinese team finished fourth in a relay. She looked pained as the interviews were going on, so the reporter asked what was wrong. She casually dropped that she was having her period and was thus exhausted. This is a topic that is almost never broached even in Western media let alone in China, and the reaction was overwhelmingly positive from her Chinese fans (in three days her online fan club has increased from 300,000 to 6 million!). Her reactions are nothing new. Look how she freaks out after winning a medal last year: Who needs Phelps Face when you have Fu face? Another all time classic from an interview last year: https://www.instagram.com/p/BI-OEFjAzNn Go Fu Yuan Hui!!!

Happy For a white guy you really do HATE being a Merican.....as I said many times prior....you should move the family to Canada....heck why not Van City.....many courses where you'll be able to play golf surrounded by Koreans.....you'll be in heaven. Better health care and a nicer place to raise your daughter....minimal guns too. Glad to see you giving some luv'ing to a fellow country woman. Go China Go!!!
