Ming-Na WenThe Coalition of Asian Pacifics In Entertainment have a series called I Am (#IAm) featuring Asian-Pacific stars giving interviews about show business, how they are portrayed by Hollywood and general information about their lives. They've done many of these interviews but the first I'd like to share is the one they did with Ming-Na Wen. I have loved Ming from The Joy Luck Club through ER through Mulan through her current stint as Agent Melinda May on ABC's Agents of Shield (skip the first season on Netflix and go right to season 2, it gets much better). This is a very nice interview...I love how her mother reacted to Ming earning an actual college degree, with honors, in drama..."Wow! American school so easy!" A brief history of Ming-Na Wen As The World Turns (1988-1991) The Joy Luck Club ER Bloopers Voice of Disney's Mulan Agents of Shield with Stan Lee...Excelsior!!

BKB...thx for this. Ming Na is pretty sweet....looks amazing for 50 something....I use to play golf with a unicorn....a Korean lady the same age who could just about go toe to toe with Ming Na and she is a really good golfer...but she moved back to Korea....ugh.
But my fav is Kelly Hu.
Bobby Lee is so freakin funny...especially on MadTV.
Many of the #IAm discuss role models. I'm not calling him a role model...but a game changer for me was Bruce Lee....when Bruce became famous here....the number of times I got called Ch*nk, etc decreased and therefore not as many fights too...back in my days (I'm as old as dirt) ya had to handle things on your own and it's not as if there were 6 Chinamen around to back me up....no running to dad or the teachers or putting on a pink shirt "Don't Bully Me".
Chinese Lives Matter.
I liked the gal who played Waverly in The Joy Luck Club. Although we didn't start "seeing each other"until 2 years later.....I went to the Joy Luck Club with my wife.

I'm not calling him a role model...but a game changer for me was Bruce Lee.... I can't prove this, but I'll bet the number of new karate schools exploded in the early 70s, thanks to Bruce Lee. My dad took me to a weekend karate class for a few months around 1972-73. No, I didn't earn a black belt...or brown belt...or green belt (were there other colors?). I was in it long enough to get a strip of light purple tape wrapped around the tip end of my white belt. Flash forward 20+ years...during all the times I played open hockey, I ventured out of NJ only once. I think that was in 1999 when I dropped by the Staten Island Skating Pavillion. The local teens in the locker room were dishing crude advice on everyday living. I still remember this gem: "Don't mess with a Chinese kid from the city. They all belong to Chinese gangs. They'll f*** you up."
