Alan Shipnuck is one of the top PGA writers: www.golf.com/golf-plus/how-lpga-tour-gets-it-rightOr maybe it was the moment during the second round when reigning U.S. Women’s Open champ In Gee Chun was walking off the 6th tee and an older gent blurted out, “In Gee, you’re so pretty.” Instead of ignoring him—which might have been prudent—she smiled beatifically and said, “Thank you!” 18majors...you were at the SS event....lol. The drool/fanboys of the LPGA are not young teen boys but middle aged guys...lol. The beauty of women's golf is being able to engage the players....no other sport can you say the same. There is not one of the top pros on the LPGA.... that if you wanted....... you could stand within feet...you can't say that about other sporting events. And they gals know they have to sell their tour and therefore...... 99% engaging. Look at Phil...after only watching MHL for a few holes....her dad offered him food and a drink and among many things....MHL got Phil 2 weekly badges to the KPMG...and let's face it...Phil is just a stranger to MHL. TonyJ and Cindy have also been asked by Kathleen Ekey's dad to have a drink with them after they watched Kathleen.

A lot of people are seem to be dumping on Michelle Wei because she is struggling. She was very marketable when she first came to the tour. She brought a lot of fans to the LPGA tour when she arrived. Because she was a great talent. Maybe she and her crew made some mistakes along the way. Like trying to play PGA tournaments. Not sure how she acts outside the ropes and don't care. But inside the ropes, even though she is not playing well. I have never seen her slam a club or do anything close to that. Not sure why all the hate on her. Who is Michelle Wei???.....lol. No question that MW still continues to move the needle...and as a popular pro...she's gonna attract the haters along with the fanboys. I think much of the sarcasm directed towards MW stems from BJ's behavior...he has been a master mind creating the MW persona. I've gotta believe there is an appearance clause in MW's endorsements...as a popular pro...... she plays a lot of events and because she's so injury prone...IMO...she should be resting more....but BJ needs to keep his ATM well oiled. I really believe MW is bored with golf...she seems really miserable when BJ drags her to the practice green after a rd when she looks like she just wants to leave and get something to eat. I fully believe MW is scared to tell BJ to leave her alone. But even playing lousy golf is better than any desk job she might obtain...and golfing with those endorsements are fair more lucrative too vs. sitting in a cubicle. No doubt...as much as MW play over the years has been sketchy at times...I've never seen her swear or slam a club...kudos. I don't think I've seen an real Asian pro swear or slam a club. I know a Korean lady we sometimes play with ......really hates when anyone acts temperamental.

A security team member generally follows me around when I attend events. I must be doing something wrong.

Happy Thx for the vid...I love old stuff. I remember watching The Sand Pebbles in the movie theater...yikes...I must have been 5 years old...I guess my mom was too cheap to get a babysitter...can't emberm if my siblings were with me. I remember Mako....I thought we was Chinese...but he's Japanese. My fav Jack Lemmon movie was The Apartment with Shirley MacLean and Fred MacMurray...the good old days.....I have the DVD somewhere...maybe some pirated version my brother bought for me for cheap in a Chinese mall.....lol. I love watching the old Oscar clips on YouTube; you never know who you might see in the audience. For instance, sitting right behind Walter in the clip I posted is none other than Steve McQueen, who was nominated for his only career Oscar that night (he lost). And the blondish guy in front of him is Mike Nichols, who directed Matthau in the Odd Couple on Broadway and would direct The Graduate the following year.

Yes...I did see McQueen in the clip too...hmmmm....didn't know that was his only nomination for an Oscar for The Sand Pebbles...I think his name was Holman....the only reason I watched The Sand Pebbles as a kid was because I'm Chinese...and my mom had me tag along to the movie theater. You must be a movie buff....I have know knowledge of Nichols. Obviously they had no/minimal movie restrictions back in the 60's...as a kid I remember watching Bonnie & Clyde, 2001 Space Odyssey, In Cold Blood, Cool Hand Luke, etc in movie theaters with my family and uncle....these weren't exactly kiddie movies....though I do remember watching The Jungle Book in the drive-in with the family....drive-ins were so much fun and as a kid and teenager. The Good Ole Days!!

You must be a movie buff....I have know knowledge of Nichols. Last year I read a really interesting book about the 1967 Oscars (so, the year following the clip I posted). The book was called "Pictures at a Revolution", and it detailed the films that were nominated for Best Picture that year and their behind-the-scenes stories. Those Oscars took place in 1968 just days after Martin Luther King's Assassination (the broadcast was actually postponed for several days because of it), and the awards showcased a real battle between the Hollywood old guard and the newcomers who were soon to completely change the industry. Among those nominees, there were two from the new vanguard: Nichols' The Graduate and Arthur Penn's Bonnie and Clyde; a faux racially sensitive drama from the Hollywood old guard ( Guess Who's Coming to Dinner?); a more interesting racial drama from a relative newcomer ( In the Heat of the Night); and ... uh... Dr. Dolittle, a prime example of the kind of bloated musicals that were popular in the wake of the Sound of Music. Before I read that book, I wouldn't have been able to pick Mike Nichols out of a police lineup, although I did know the name. Here's the book on Amazon: Pictures at a Revolution

-2 for In Gee, six birdies, a double and two bogeys; she is still in the hunt.
I often wonder why In Gee is prone to bogeys, and I start to get an idea. Her birdie putt stroke is much better than her par putt stroke; as a result, she often doesn't save par when she misses the green.
I don't know whether it's mechanical or mental; but hope it will correct itself soon.

Disappointing day for Dumbo. Maybe, mr3putt will be correct when he said IGC will win one tournament in 2016. Leadbetter and the others will start circling like vultures, whispering that IGC needs to tighten her swing. Her handlers aren't going to put up with Dr. Won Park if this continues.

The biggest challenge is the first win. Things will start to fall into places when a win is on hand. May be her bogey problem is mental; because she wants to win so badly. The more she doesn't want to bogey, the more she does. In Gee is clearly not a good wind player. On top of that, she needs to hole those par putts, be it 4 ft. or 12 ft.
