"That's a tremendous tee shot! I'd go as far to say it's her best swing today with a driver in hand." The words of the Aussie announcer describing Hannah Green's tee shot on 18. Boutier is in the clubhouse at minus-12. Hannah wins with a birdie on 18; a par takes them to a playoff...

Congratulations to Hannah Green, the 2024 HSBC Women's World Champion! Pour some water and champagne on her! Love you beautiful Hannah! You look so much like my 안나린, not the real Narin An, my 안나린...
The 'Amy Yang' hat did not work for Madelene Sagstrom this week, and Amy herself did not wear the hat. But Hannah did and it sure worked for her...
Was that MHL pouring the champagne on Hannah? Sisterhood!

Just keep doing what you're doing.
Just keep doing what you're doing.
STOP doing what you're doing ... will probably go backwards on Rolex tomorrow ... and will probably get a few more lumps at the Pak Open.

Great tournament for Mi Hyang Lee. Even the approach shot on eighteen was really good, just released a little too far.
I've watched Jin Young Ko since her Rookie year on the KLPGA. I have never seen her miss greens and fairways this far off. But even when her tee to green game was off, she managed a top ten.
I wonder why Lilia Vu withdrew she didn't seem to have an injury.

Usually when I drop a good word about a player, they tank the next round. Not so with Hannah Green. She played superbly with a birdie, birdie, birdie finish. Congratulations!
The timing of the round was perfect for my time zone (Pacific) - 17:30 to just past 22:00.

Round 4 Jin Young gave it a good try but she was just too far back to have a legit chance at this one. In many ways this round was a mess. She hit only 6 fairways, and when she missed she sometimes missed by a lot (and put herself into dicey places to boot). As a result, she had too many bogies, not only today but all week. But when she did hit it well, she often made birdies. Heck, sometimes when she hit it crappily she made birdies, like that ridiculous 60 foot birdie on 11. So even with mediocre stats by her standards, she still got a top ten. It feels like she will iron out the kinks soon and go on a long awaited streak of greatness. As long as she stays healthy. Disappointing result in that this is an event the Sisters have won most years in the past five years and they really didn't have a good chance coming into the house. Congrats to Mi Hyang Lee, who was really the only Sister who had a great Sunday. Even she really didn't have a shot at the win though. More than anything, I really want a tournament where a Sister has a legit chance with a few holes to go, rather than looking up at some uncatchable people. Hopefully that first win is coming soon. Hye Jin was the biggest disappointment. Thought she was looking at another top ten, but she went over par and finished 17th. In Gee, Hae Ran and Jenny all finished top 25 but all were even par or over. All in all a bummer of a week, but not super terrible. I'll hold onto the fact that there were seven Koreans in the top 25 and two in the top ten. That's not too bad. Sisters hwaiting!

... I wonder why Lilia Vu withdrew she didn't seem to have an injury.Does anyone know what happened to Lilia? She was having a decent weekend through the first 3 rounds, minus-5, in the top ten. "Even I" didn't expect her to pass eight or nine golfers to win but a top ten or even top five finish looked likely or at least possible.
On Sunday, which was Saturday night here in the US, she started with three bogeys in the first 4 holes then settled down with a series of pars on the remainder of the front nine. I think that I remember seeing her show up on the broadcast a couple of times even though she was uncompetitive by that point. Then she made the turn and bogeyed 10, 12, and 13 at which point she WD. The lpga.com leaderboard just shows her as WD and only gives three rounds of scores, but her hole by hole score on another sports site shows the details that I describe here.
Alexa Pano also WD after 3 rounds; she did not start the final round.

It's at disaster level 10,000 for the Koreans. I say why curse the darkness when you can light a candle?

It's at disaster level 10,000 for the Koreans. I say why curse the darkness when you can light a candle? I agree. Let's light a candle. We have many candles to light. Jin Young, Sei Young, Hae Ran, Hye-Jin, Hyo Joo, In Gee, Jenny, Amy Yang (wear the hat, Amy, it's your good luck charm!), Jiyai, Eun-Hee, A Lim, don't forget my favorite namesake 안나린. Go sisters! Don't forget my Lee6 and Lee5 and so many others... If I missed anyone, I apologize, I support all the sisters... every week... every month...every year...

Things are improving though. Yeah, it could have been better this week, but Jin Young is healthy, her short game and putting is easily the best in the league, so if she can just get back to close to her regular tee-to-green game she could have a monster year. And Hye Jin is showing signs that she might be ready to take the next step in her game, Hae Ran has been decent but not extraordinary in 2024, Hyo Joo has had one bad round in 8 tries. At some point Jiyai is going to get back to her normal level, too, and perhaps Amy.
And none of the three promising rookies has had a chance to play lately.
And that's not even counting some good results from Jenny Shin and Mi Hyang Lee and Sei Young Kim. Who knows, maybe In Gee and Six have something special in store.
Fingers crossed they will work out the kinks in March and start kicking butt in April or May at the latest. Hwaiting!
