Gotta give her credit: despite an absolutely terrible 2023, Ha Na Jang has hope that she can turn things around in 2024 and perhaps even get into the winner's circle again. Good luck! Ha Na Jang welcomes 2024

For the benefit of those of us who haven't seen "The Iron Claw", what does this mean?
"An escalator ruined this poor girl's career. I just saw The Iron Claw."

I have no idea what the Iron Claw is (a movie?) but the escalator reference dates back to 2016. At the Singapore airport before the HSBC event that year, In Gee Chun was at the bottom of an escalator and Ha Na and her dad were at the top. Her dad lost control of a suitcase, it tumbled down the stairs and hit Chun in the back, requiring her to miss the event and several more weeks to recover. Korean fans were NOT happy with Jang (even though it was technically her dad who caused it, not her) and she got so much negative blow back that she ended up requiring therapy to get over it.
Basically, some thought her dad did it on purpose to pull a Tonya Harding on a popular rival, while others thought he didn't but that Jang wasn't sufficiently apologetic. Oh, and if I recall, Jang also won the HSBC that week, pissing off the fans even more with her typical happy celebrations.
Anyways, to some degree that incident has hung over her ever since.
