Good news! Purse Increases for the U.S. Women's Open and U.S. Open"he purses for both the 119th U.S. Open at Pebble Beach Golf Links and the 74th U.S. Women’s Open at the Country Club of Charleston have been increased by $500,000, furthering the USGA's commitment to provide competitors with an unmatched championship experience. The purse for the 2019 U.S. Open will be $12.5 million, making it the largest of all major championships. This year’s U.S. Women’s Open purse will total $5.5 million, positioning it as the largest in women’s golf and ensuring that its champion – provided that she is a professional – will receive $1 million for the first time."

A Ron Sirak write up The Unflappable Inbee Park, Pursuing Historic Third Victory"ark said that the LPGA West Coast swing played on mostly poa annua greens made it difficult for her “to see what I was doing wrong – whether it was the greens, whether it was me, whether it was the stroke, whether it was the break.” She hopes work she did recently in Korea on bent greens will translate into success. “I really thought that my putting has improved a little bit a couple weeks ago in Korea when I putted in perfect conditions,” Park said. “So hopefully, I can get that feeling going this week and putt a little better and see the ball dropping in the hole a little bit more.” Putting will be important on the massive greens at Charleston, especially lag putting. And lag putting has always been one of Park’s strength. Truth be told, every aspect of putting has always been one of her strengths."

Because someone thought to ask, here is the entire exchange regarding Na Yeon Choi's medical exemption status:
From her six starts so far in 2019 she made four cuts, earning $24,987 in official money.

The USGA acted amenable towards the Japanese players. Three of the groups are all Japanese and one group has two players from Japan.
Quick! What's the average age of the Pressel, Piller and Creamer group? How far back in the past are you living? 25? 27? 30?! No, over 32.
Usually the USGA puts the scrubs in the last groups teeing off in the first round. But what is Wei-Ling Hsu doing in the very last one? Give her more respect than that.
I watched an interview with Ariya the question was put on how she was going to handle the 100-degree F. weather. Being Thai might be an advantage.
