Beth Ann interviewed, but did not pick this as one of the top ten moments of 2018!

HappyFan I's unhappy about it also; but Beth like most of us needs to make a living.

It looks like Rolex and CME Group increased their support of USGA
USGA changes U.S. Women's Open exemption criteria for 2020
Exemption modifications for the 2020 U.S. Women’s Open: • Removes top 75 off the money list from the previous year • Removes top 5 from the LET, Korea LPGA and Japan LPGA money lists from previous year• Removes top 3 from China LPGA money list • Increases Rolex Rankings qualifiers from top 50 to 75 at close of entries • Increases Rolex Rankings qualifiers from top 50 to 75 prior to current year’s championship • Adds a new exemption category for top 30 from the CME Globe points list as of the Monday prior to the previous year’s CME Group Tour Championship It's not like the KLPGA ever produces a champion of this event, is it? BS move, but hopefully more Sisters could theoretically get in, given that many of the top KLPGA players are also in the top 75.

HappyFan KLPGA top 5 money should be in Rolex Top 75. Between LPGA, KLPGA and JLPGA; there're currently 12 Korean players between Rolex 51 and 75.

The LET money list exemption was a joke, so its elimination makes sense. Overall, I think these changes would strengthen the field slightly. Mi Hyang WAS safe under the old system...now she has to maintain her RR (currently #58), which might be in jeopardy if she goes into an early-season nosedive (again). She and a few other "name" players might be kicking themselves now for skipping the Vic Open. On the other hand, seeing MHL at the Forsgate qualifier would be AWESOME.

I'm guessing MHL is batting .333 in USWO qualifiers (locations unknown for now). She trunk-slammed at the 2012 USWO, and did not play the USWO in 2013 and 2014.
UPDATE:
I found 2012...Georgia State Golf Assoc. website:
It may have taken an extra day, but the four qualifying spots have been filled at the 36-hole U.S. Women’s Open Sectional Qualifier at Dunwoody Country Club, and Victoria Tanco of Argentina posted a 2-under-par 142 (69-73) for medalist honors. Jin Young Pak of Korea, Cydney Clanton of Concord, N.C., and Mi Hyang Lee of Korea also qualified, tying for second at 1-under-par 143. Tanco, Clanton and Lee are rookies on the LPGA Tour, and Pak is in her sixth year on the professional circuit.
Two players, Reilley Rankin of Hilton Head Island, S.C., and Min Seo Kwak of Korea, tied for fifth at even-par 144, so a playoff was needed to determine the first and second alternate positions. On the second playoff hole (#2), Rankin saved par to clinch the first alternate position, while Kwak finished as second alternate.
Play was suspended on Monday during the second round of the qualifier at 7:14 p.m. due to severe weather in the area. One hour and 16 minutes later the decision was made to postpone play until Tuesday morning. Four players returned to Dunwoody Country Club to finish their rounds at 8:00 a.m. today.
Dunwoody Country Club played to 6,816 yards and a par 72.
Qualifiers advance to the 67th U.S. Women’s Open Championship, which will be held at Blackwolf Run in Kohler, Wis., July 5-8. Entries were open to any female professional and to female amateurs with USGA Handicap Indexes not exceeding 4.4. The U.S. Women’s Open is one of 13 national championships conducted annually by the United States Golf Association.
