Another leaderboard sparsely populated by the Sisters, although So Yeon obviously had a great day. Her 64 saw her hitting all 18 greens.
Other than her, Sei Young Kim had an all right -3, and Jin Young Ko a slow but steady -2. In Gee only shot even par and will now have to fight to make the cut.
Su Oh managed another strong outing, and seems poised to solidify her spot on the Aussie International Crown team. Shout out also to Korean American Kelly Shon, perhaps inspired by Annie Park last week? Annie herself struggled to a 76. Well, at least the sun will come out tomorrow (I'd bet my bottom dollar on it!).
Great first two days golfing for So Yeon. She started the back her front nine birdie, birdie. Made par on twelve, then the trouble started when she three putted thirteen for bogey. She missed two fairways where she had to pitch out, made bogey on both. Made a birdie on sixteen followed by a missed fairway, bogey.
I think her game changed when she made par from the bunker on 18, her ninth hole.
Not much to say about her back nine. She made five birdies on the backside, by not missing any makeable putts. She left her putts about four feet short on seventeen and eighteen, but made them.
I talked to Jin Young manager as she was finishing her round. She said that she is ok now, and is going to stay. I mentioned that in her Instagram post she seemed down. She agreed that she is not used to so little fan support.
OK: Phil one other thing that I am unhappy about. They blocked the only path, for thirty minutes to the tenth tee box interviewing Wei. We even had to wait for her to finish signing autographs. I almost missed So Yeon tee off.
Another mixed bag for the Sisters. On the one hand, So Yeon had to work a little harder today than yesterday, but she still delivered a 67 and maintained her lead. Best of all, she's looking confident, so I'm rooting for a great weekend from her!
On the other hand, she was the ONLY Korean in the top 30. Yeesh! Korean Canadian amateur Jaclyn Lee was better than any of the Sisters other than Ryu.
It wasn't all bad. In Gee and Hyo Joo managed 69s, Jin Young and Sei Young were decent, and top tens are still possible on a course that can yield low numbers like this one. And Amy showed some signs of life as well with a 67.
And Su Oh is having another nice week and still could pull this one off, which would be incredible.
Golf Channel don't really have any excuses this week do they? They don't have to televise any other golf, yet they still can't show the final group tee off...
