By the way, does anyone know the last time someone won a tournament while ranked #1? Was it Lydia? I know So Yeon didn't manage that. Inbee will have a chance this week. Here's another discussion about Inbee: Is Inbee Park an all time great player?

So Yeon, Ariya and Shanshan all became #1 the day after victories last year, but as to who last won while #1 that would indeed be Lydia. Her most recent stint at #1 began the day after she won in Taiwan in October 2015 and she won three times during the 2016 season: the KIA, the ANA and Toledo. She hasn't won since and dropped out of the #1 spot the day after Ariya won the Manulife last year and vaulted over her.Kevin

P.U., Jaime compared her to Billy Casper, but I can understand why. I remember reading an article on Casper in the S.I. vault from the late '60s (his prime) on how he left golf public cold...he was so boring...I must read it again, but I'm having trouble finding it. Not sure if I'm accurate about this: when he won the '59 USO (Winged Foot GC), there was a long par-3 that he layed up on in all four rounds, but chipped it close and made the par putt every time...you will NOT get an "army" of followers doing that!!! He was a relentless money maker, but had only three major wins out of 48 events between 1959 and 1970.
I sense Winbee has more goodwill among golf followers...one reason being that women's golf elicits much less heat than men's golf. But, the seven majors stat is ridiculous for women's golf...I won't repeat the reasons we already discussed...the 19 career LPGA wins is the valid stat. If you want apples-to-apples, she's equal with Casper in US Opens, two vs. two. ...and I like her chances of getting more.
