Good round by Jin Young Ko -4, five birdies one bogey. Although she is playing with a heavy heart, because of her grand father passing away. Sung Hyun Park had another bad first two rounds, +5 which missed the cut by one.
Looks like Hee Young Park made the cut on the number again. However, that's a good thing. It gives her a chance to have two more rounds of tournament play. Also helps the final money position, at the end of the year. Who knows, she could even have a low scoring weekend.

Round 2 Great first couple of days from the Koreans; I love that So Yeon finally had a great round. And it sounds like they are getting good crowds, too, with the Korean fans showing up in force to support the Sisters. Inbee didn't have her best stuff today and still impressed. If she can work out how to deal with the greens here she can be deadly this weekend. Eun Hee and Jin Young also up near the top; all the Korean winners from 2018, and one who should be among the winners, Miss Ryu. Could be a fun weekend. Sisters Hwaiting!!! PS - tomorrow, it will be Inbee, Eun Hee and Jin Young in the penultimate group. Sister firepower! So Yeon interview: Hot Round

MHL playing with Shanshan. They have identical T-10 scores, but they're showing only Jenny Money on the broadcast. But on the stream during the break they showed an impressive MHL bunker shot from an awkward half-in/half-out stance.

Not a good day for So Yeon. Only one birdie and three bogeys. To make matters worse, they didn't even show it. She didn't seem to be playing that bad the few times, that they showed her. I hope that she can get a top five tomorrow, because her winning isn't realistic.

Congrats to Robynn Ree for winning the Craziest Even Par Round of the Year Award... A sextuple-bogey 11 offset by six birdies!

Great round by Jin Young, minus 5 to tie for the lead. She hit an incredible shot on hole seventeen off dirt from 197 yards. Her shot ended up closer than the players that were in the fairway. Inbee turned things around on the back nine, to get into the last group.

That was a fun third round. I like this course: you can make some birdies, but there's also plenty of danger. That 17th hole looks like a beast, I was really glad that Jin Young managed to escape from that terrible drive. Jin Young was awesome today, even with a couple of late shaky drives. Great iron on the last. Inbee is third only because of two very uncharacteristic short par misses, but if she can find a way to play that first nine holes decently, she has a great chance to capture the win and the #1 ranking (I think). This also seems like a course that fits Jin Young well, and don't forget about Eun Hee, who really only cost herself in the final few holes today but was otherwise quite good. So Yeon is five back, but nothing a holeout can't fix (hey, it worked for several players today, including Moriya). It was her putting that really bit her. I don't think she made any more mistakes than the others, she just didn't make the birdies (or the holeouts) the others did to offset that. I just hope she goes out there and does well, win or lose. One more note: great day for Minjee, and keep an eye on her! Sisters Hwaiting!

This is a pretty good local article on the history of the LPGA in LA and the prospects for this tournament. www.pe.com/2018/04/21/alexander-lpga-tries-to-build-a-new-tradition-in-l-a/#commentsThe largest gallery on the course Saturday did not shadow the final group of Jutanugarn, Marina Alex and So Yeon Ryu, the 36-hole leaders. It followed the group just in front of them, an all-South Korean threesome of Ko, Eun-Hee Ji and Inbee Park. “It was a fun day out there, with an all-Korean group and a lot of Korean crowds following,” Park said. “It was good.” Consider this, also: Los Angeles has the largest Korean-American population of any U.S. city. And the course isn’t far from the Koreatown district. Those title sponsors whose names most of us might not recognize? Hugel is based in South Korea and manufactures beauty products. (One of them happens to be botox. Insert your own punchline, if you dare.) And JTBC is a Korean broadcasting company that, among other things, owns the LPGA’s Korean television rights. This is actually pretty smart marketing. Given the number of prominent Korean players on the tour, the organizers are tapping into that niche right away, with the idea that the three-year contract will give them time to reach other segments of this sprawling, diverse and sometimes fickle region of sports fans.

Congratulation to Moriya for her first win on the LPGA tour. Her overall round was good, hitting fairways, greens and putting.
Jin Young got off to a slow start but had a really good back nine. Except for the short birdie miss on eighteen. It kept her from an outright second place.
Inbee second place tie, I believe got her closer to, or top Rolex Ranking, maybe.
So Yeon did what I had hoped she would do, a top five finish. She had a solid ball striking round, 12 fairways and 15 GIR. She could have gotten closer to the top, with a little better putting day. But she was to far back to win, but a really good tournament.

The LPGA and Wilshire CC are going to have to go back to the drawing board to figure out the logistics of holding this tournament here. The course is very compact with the front nine located south of Beverly Blvd and the back nine located north. The only way to get between the nines is a very narrow tunnel that runs below Beverly Blvd. The tunnel is about six feet wide and seven feet high. There are red and green lights located above each tunnel entrance because only one cart can pass through at a time. There was a loooong wait to get through the tunnel after the last group finished the 9th. The crowd today was probably bigger than the combined Sunday crowds at ANA and KIA. Aviara and Mission Hills would be able to handle larger crowds because the holes are spread out so there's space to put up grandstands and bleachers. But Wilshire doesn't have the space and there were bottlenecks everywhere. It was such a clusterf__k, I left early and watched the last few holes on my smartphone on the bus ride home. Luckily all the Metro buses were free today for Earth Day.

I remember Blackwolf Run having a problem with a lone bridge over a river the first time it hosted the Women’s Open. Probably easier to build a wider bridge over a fairly narrow stream than to dig a new tunnel under a main street!

Nasa hasn't done anything breathtaking but she has quietly earned more official money this year ($71,472) than her 2017 total of $54,773. She also has three top 20 finishes; she only had one for 2017.
Nasa is running like a 6 local of New York subway; making reliable stops and picked up money on the way. Her engine is being warmed up for that eventual big takeoff.

It's been a rough year for Hyo Joo Kim, In Gee Chun and Sung Hyun Park; and Koreans have noticed that. golfhankook.hankooki.com/01_news/NewsView.php?gsno=10220696In Gee won't play San Francisco next week and it's a good decision. She needs to fix what's been ailing her; either injuries or bad swings.
