One of my all time favorites, Yuri Fudoh is minus one through nine. Great to see her still plugging along. On the other hand Kotone Hori is almost dead last at +14.

The top-52 made the cut at +4, which eliminated Sky and Sharon by two shots each. Hee Kyeong Bae and JY Shin needed 69 and 67 respectively to get to Even par...probably too many players to hurdle for a Sunday charge. After a two-week lull, Miura Mania is running wild again. At 40:05, watch her rip a driver through a patch of rough separating two parts of the fairway on the first hole: www.youtube.com/watch?v=XLyRaJQHXLg Kumamoto locals Momoko Ueda and Chie Arimura were sent packing. Weiwei Zhang (MC) and Miyuki Takeuchi (MC) Bo Mee Lee (+1) and Kana Nagai (E) Saiki Fujita hasn't won since 2011

I looked up co-leader Sayaka Tsuchida, who I never heard of before...until this week, she's a total scrub....has made no money in six previous starts. She had 20 trunk slams in 30 starts in 2017...best finish was T-12. She did well enough in q-school to retain her card. Maybe it's her week as she aced #13 on Friday. UPDATE: This video has the ace at 0:09:17 - she reacted like a hit-and-giggle amateur. : www.youtube.com/watch?v=Viq-NUyABc0Hae Rym Kim and Minami Katsu are both -1 on their first five holes. Katsu won this event in 2014 as a 15-year-old am by one shot over Bo Mee Lee. JY Shin and Kana Nagai

JY Shin barely made it into the top-ten. I'm guessing the Koreans haven't had anyone outside the top-ten on this tour in years, but I'll check that later. Miho Koga returned from The Masters to do the TV color commentary, but her husband Satoshi Kodaira made a pit stop at Harbour Town Golf Links and is doing quite well this week. It's too bad Saiki Fujita finished T-5...a win would have sent Japan's golf bums into a tizzy looking to shop for her ridiculous Jean-Baptiste gear brand. BML (+2, T-24)...Mr. Shimuzu may have to start scraping by like most caddies. Rumi Yoshiba Momoka Miura(+4) gagged with a 79, but there is lightning in her game. Teresa Lu(+4) and Hee Kyeong Bae(+5) Mami Fukuda(E) aced #8

Really great win for Mamiko Higa. She played in the first International Crown. I think she lost or won on seventeen or eighteen. After that year her game went down hill. Maybe because of an injury. She has been playing better the last two years.
Glad to see Uri Fudoh finish even par for a top twenty. When I first saw her at the Kraft Nabisco. I had seen the Japanese lady golfers play in Hawaii, with a swing like hers. So I decided to follow her, and was fascinated at how well she played.
That is one of the reasons that I like the ANA so much. Because you may get to see a great golfer from another country in person. That you may not see otherwise.

Jim Nantz of CBS said Miho Koga was there to watch her man. WHERE? HOW? She was on the JLPGA broadcast for the Sunday round. She must have jumped on a plane at the next-door Kumamoto airport. Or, was she doing a remote broadcast from the U.S., similar to what GC does for some Asian tournaments? I couldn't find any pics of her at The RBC Heritage.
