Shiho Oyama (born in Miyazaki) is making her first start in six months...to protect her bad neck, she dropped the weight in her driver shaft from 50g to 40g...also took weight out of her iron heads. ********* Three members of the '92' club, Rumi Yoshiba, Min Young Lee, and Misuzu Narita, who all just turned 26. There was a mass birthday party recently for JLPGAers born in 1992.

Shiho Oyama's neck problem flared up again during the pro-am, so she walked the course the rest of the day...will decide Friday AM if she will play or not. Momoka Miura is another hometown favorite...was a walking scorekeeper for three years at this tournament while in high school.

Shiho Oyama was a WD.
The big surprise among the early starters is Kotono Kozuma (no earnings in 2018) shooting -2 on her first nine holes and is one shot behind the leader.

Miura's doppelgänger, Sakura Koiwai(+1, MC) Kotono Kozuma (-1) had 18 straight pars. Rumi Yoshiba and Minami Katsu butchered the par-5 18th hole (water!) This isn't the strongest field, so Hee Kyeong Bae will never have a better chance of getting her first win in Japan. Jae Eun Chung(-3) will have to wait for her first win. Erika Hara is Japan's new rookie giraffe. BML (-2)

I seem to recall that she once worked with Dr. Won Park a few years. I thought I posted that info on this board somewhere, but I can't find it. Assuming I'm right, I'm sure the good doctor is patting himself on the back with both hands while one of his students is holding a parasol over his head. They're quite creative on prizes in Japan, but I never saw caviar before. They keep handing out the same car ever week...CLA Shooting Brake, what a terrible name for a car...sounds like it should be on an auto recall list. Miura Mania was derailed as she fell apart on the last five holes...missed the green badly here on the par-3 16th. Ji Hee Lee(-1) and Ah Reum Hwang(+1) Off-season changes on display: Mami Fukuda (-2), Honma to Yamaha...Mamiko Higa, Callaway to Ping Hee Kyeong Bae gagged again...Rumi Yoshiba quoted as saying she ate too much in the off-season; I'm not complaining and it would be no impediment on the LPGA tour.

It feels like Chae Young Yoon is having a pretty good start to the season. Am I remembering correctly that she's had some other good finishes this year besides this top three?

It feels like Chae Young Yoon is having a pretty good start to the season. Am I remembering correctly that she's had some other good finishes this year besides this top three? Yoon had a 2nd place in Okinawa to start the season. ******** While driving yesterday, the name Babe Liu popped into my head. That's the Taiwanese player that once attended one of Dr. Park's boot camps, not Phoebe Yao. Liu trunk slammed in Miyazaki.
