www.lpga.com/news/2018-korea-to-be-site-of-first-lpga-international-property-outside-usI expect the LPGA BoD to can Whan in the very near future...hire and name BJ as the new commish and relocate LPGA HQ to Seoul. Hmmmm...so another expensive Korean golf course that no one will be able to afford to play. It's no coincidence that the Koreans go to Thailand, Vietman, Guam, etc to practice and play. Oh boy....a LPGA branded course...let's all race out and go play....NOT. When was the last time you chatted with or saw some thread on cyberspace where someone was racing down to play LPGA International Daytona Beach...yup...that's what I thought.

The most significant paragraph:
The opening of this LPGA-accredited golf facility marks the first of many projects the association plans to create in Busan, including an LPGA T&CP Center and LPGA regional qualifying school. LPGA International Busan will be the site of an official LPGA-sanctioned tournament in 2019, to be announced at a later date.
I can't recall Asiad CC being a KLPGA venue before, but obviously it could have been. It's on the east coast, about five miles up the road from Haeundai Beach Golf & Resort, an ex-KLPGA tour locale and an ex-sponsor for Shin Ae Ahn.

Wow, interesting. A second LPGA event in Korea? I wonder if they will put it earlier in the season or back-to-back it with KEB?

Wow, interesting. A second LPGA event in Korea? I wonder if they will put it earlier in the season or back-to-back it with KEB? My first thought was that they would be moving the KEB Hana Bank to Busan. On the other hand, it could be a second Korean event...Whan might be eyeing this one as a solution to getting rid of the annual bull*** surrounding the Reignwood in China once and for all. I noticed the 2018 sked says "Name to be Announced" for Shanghai, Oct. 18-21. The note about a regional q-school is intriguing. The first stage has traditionally been at Mission Hill in CA, which is somewhat burdensome for young Asian-based players, but putting an additional first stage in Korea (if that's the plan) could fix that. The KLPGA cannot be thrilled by this.

The KLPGA cannot be thrilled by this. The Commish was in the broadcast booth at the HSBC and mentioned that there would be three new events in 2019- two in the US and one overseas (just like 2018). I'm guessing Busan is the new 2019 overseas event.
