Ayako Uehara's winter camp is in the Palm Springs area. Some of her recent posts mention Ted Oh...maybe he is her coach. He was a teen phenom back in the '90s, about the same age at GOAT #2, but the comparisons end there. https://www.instagram.com/p/Bdp3MuOH1VG

It's not just that she's an underachiever, it's that she's an underachiever that the golf media in this country continues, after a decade and a half, to claim is the most important player in the women's game, and also probably the best "as soon as she gets over the hump". It's insulting to the sport as a whole. I have no problem if they treat Wie as a good golfer and give her more attention than most because they like her looks or whatever. But be realistic about her level, and be fair to the great golfers who have actually done amazing things on tour. I guarantee you that if this were men's golf, a player like Inbee Park would be a legend, needle mover or not. But in women's golf, you have to be American, tall, a long hitter, and attractive in a marketable way to get any attention. If they can't find someone who fits all those criteria, they have shown that they will simply pretend that the one they like best does. I agree that she gets way more media attention than she deserves when she isn't playing well. However, is that her fault? I can't imagine she enjoys it, either. If I was playing like crap, I'd hate to have a camera stuck in my face all day. Sadly, I don't think it's any surprise that the media are U.S. centric. The tour is global, and there are plenty of compelling stories to cover. I agree with your assessment of Inbee. She has won as many majors as Bobby Jones, Arnold Palmer, Gene Sarazen, Sam Sneed, and Harry Vardon. That's some impressive company, no? She's won more majors than Nick Faldo, Lee Trevino, Seve Ballesteros, Phil Mickelson, and Byron Nelson.

JY Shin's winter camp is in Thailand...she is showing off a Mizuno Pro 118 iron in this photo collection...will she use it in 2018? It's insulting to the sport as a whole. There is probably a good portion of the non-golfing public that assumes that Michelle Wie is out there competing against--and regularly beating--men. And why not, is what I say. Post-fact society and everything.

Nice photo collection from last November...not only am I living in the wrong neighborhood (PGA Tour Superstore is 50 miles away), but I am living in the wrong part of the world, too. Korea is where its at. If I were a golf industry professional, I'd keep an eye out for opportunities to go work there. People like David Leadbetter probably get mobbed when they try to walk down a Seoul street.

1.) On Morning Drive, they were on site of Pressel's charity event with a line up of interviews from some of the LPGA pros, including SYR. It got me then thinking....as much as she moves the needle....Wie rarely or ever??...plays in these charity events. So either she's not that popular with her LPGA peers to obtain an invite to their charity events...or she does get invites and too selfish to attend if she and BJ aren't collecting a pay check. 2.) Yet she has many DROOLBOYS. 1.) I'm no authority on the various charity tournaments that may involve LPGAers. I'm guessing the biggest one is the annual Val Skinner breast cancer event in NJ, which she has been running for a long time. She had it on the Monday after the end of the 2017 Shop-Rite/Acer. MW was not there...I looked up group pics from other years and she's not in any of them...and Skinner's website does not list her as an attendee, ever. 2.) As I think back to when HF first started this forum in 2005, I can't recall a single member ever being a big fan of MW. Isn't that funny? There has never been a "Wiefan" equivalent on this board. Pak, Grace, Peanut, Ryu, MHL, Rocket, BadA$$, Dumbo, Winbee, Sky, BML, Sharon and others have had heavy support here, but never MW. 1) I can't think of one charity event MW has played in. I also can't think of any exhibition event with her participation neither....e.g.) CVS, Diamond Resort, Wendy's 3 Tour Challenge, etc. 2) I LUV Wiefan...the guy is so FUNNY...I have always wanted to meet him...he's so scared of MW, BJ & Bo...yet chats with Bam Bam's mom and always gives her a gift when he see her. There were/are some weirdo Wie fans from the defunct GC forum, Rusty's Playhouse (mylpga) and Wie Central forum....there was supposedly a lot of WIErdo's on mylpga before I joined that site.

1) I saw Michelle up close at the Volvik last season near the scoring tent after her 2nd round, and she was very fan friendly, even though she had just missed the cut. She was taking photos with fans, and signing autographs. She had a big smile on her face. She's a very popular player with the casual fans. The demands on her time when she's on the tournament grounds have to be huge. 2) I believe she's not a big favorite here because she has been a long time underachiever. Between the injuries and the swing changes, not completely unrelated, she's never achieved a sustained level of success. I'll admit that she isn't the most cheerful person on the planet when she's not playing well, and that's got to be a big factor. Folks love winners, or lovable losers. Pouty losers? Not so much. 1) Wie, along with others, know when the cameras are nearby and put on a show. I have seen Wie many times and she's often scribbling her autograph and trying to complete the autograph signing sessions ASAP to be able to leave. Come on...this is the LPGA...it's crickets....signing for autograph seekers is a very manageable task. Lexi has just as many fans....yet I've never seen her once walk away from any autograph or selfie seekers. Tonyj has been to well over 200+ days of attending LPGA events....I can confidently say that Tonyj has also never seen Lexi walk away from an autograph seeking fan.. 2) I must admit...of all the times we've seen Wie inside the ropes...we have yet to see her swearing or slamming a club. I think MW seems fairly happy on the course nowadays now that she has ex-Big Break, Matthew Galloway, on her bag...he use to loop for Ryann....I think Matthew keeps her emotions up and really helps her out with course management as a fairly accomplished golfer. Duncan French always looked kind of aloof and I think he might have struggled knowing when and what to say to MW....I think Duncan had a fairly long tenure on MW's bag because he is the BF of MW's gal pal, Christina Kim...otherwise I think BJ would have canned him long ago.

Hye Jin Choi with her Pilates instructor, who has a weak golf swing (unfortunately). https://www.instagram.com/p/Bdg-xTPF02a It was reported that Cyborg will begin her one-month winter camp this week at TPC Valencia, about 35 miles NW of LA. She'll focus mostly on her short game and get instruction of from ex-PGAer Charlie Wi, who retired from touring golf after 2016 and became an instructor. Wi is KJ Choi's current swing coach, and KJ will also put in some time with Cyborg. She will follow Namdalla's route and try to earn her LPGA card for 2019 by making the "hypothetical" top-40 on the money list in 2018. The 40th ranked player in 2017 (K. Icher) won about $477K.

Her Pilate instructor is cute. I believe that if CYBORG wanted immediate LPGA membership...she should have registered for LPGA Q school....I firmly think over 5 rds...CYBORG would have obtain a top 20 card...nuff said.

Hite/Jinro re-upped with Sky Kim (right) and signed up 2018 rookie Ye Rim Choi, who had wins on the Jump and Dream tours last season.

Yes, there is no doubt in my mind that she would have aced Stage 3 q-school last month, but maybe her handlers didn't want her to do a Nasa flame-out. Also, I think Lotte doesn't want their investment to completely leave Korea so quickly (although it is inevitable). BTW, thanks to the magic of mathematics, Cyborg moved past BadA$$ this week to #11 on the Rolex Rankings...and Inky jumped over Cold Fish and Ariya 51 to the #6 spot.
