Hi. There was a Korean article recently saying that (some) American players believe the informer was a Korean player (and the recent slow play by Crusty might have been a retaliation - as Haru Nomura is half-Korean):
If that's true, that's one of the more racist things I've heard lately. I mean, who was the player most likely to benefit immediately from a Thompson penalty? That's right, noted Korean player Suzann Pettersen, who was closest to her at the time and had the most holes yet to play. Does anyone think a Norwegian might have called in the infraction? Hmmmm....
(of course, this could also be a case of Koreans making stuff up to have an excuse to feel resentful).
She made a habit out of cheating and got busted. Hopefully she learned something.
Many of the people I liked and respected on podcasts and the golf media called it like it was. Big thanks to them for keeping the game and the rules above any individual player.
I remember at least on two occasions the Wunderkind called penalty on herself after the ball moved on the green. And one of those occasion she eventually lost by 1 stroke.
Gil Hong Ko might have put his daughter through golf hell. But I must give him and Tina credit for raising their daughter right.
