1) Making the Ochoa a match play is a big boost for this field in quantity and quality. It's a short trip from Texas the week before, so I don't expect anyone to dodge it. 2) The Shop-Rite is a sitting duck in the schedule again (Virginia...Michigan...NJ...Ontario...Michigan), though not as badly as 2016 when it was sandwiched between Michigan and the KPMG in Washington. I'm optimistic that Mi Hyang will return to AC again. The Toto in Japan with its "small" purse also looks like a sitting duck...maybe a few Asian-based players will skip that one and play Blue Bay instead. In a perfect world, they should have the week off before CME, move the NZ event to the week before the Aussie Open, and shift the Fall Asian swing back one week. 1) No so quick...Mexico won't be so easy to enter come 2017 when the WALL starts to come to fruition. 2) Yes, grow or die. I think there are too many LPGA events now.....there were quite a few events with diluted fields last year....and with absent star power...these events were boring...same with the PGA tour. With so many more tournaments...... long running events like Shoprite and Portland are going to get pushed aside unless they get their purses to $2.2M. With an expected poor turnout in Portland again next year...they might as well rename it the Brooke Open.

HappyFan, Mike isn't the issue. Where is Amazon, Microsoft, Starbucks, Nordstrom, Costco and Weyerhaeuser when we need them. Just because a company is well capitalized doesn't mean they'll benefit from sponsoring a LPGA. The above companies don't do much advertising if any at all (Costco) starting with a LPGA I would say might not be top of mind in their marketing departments. If anything.....if I was one of the above....if I'm gonna put some money behind a golf event...it would be starting on the PGA tour. Safeway bailed out of the LPGA in Phoenix and then Portland...but are now a sponsoring on the PGA tour.

HappyFan, Mike isn't the issue. Where is Amazon, Microsoft, Starbucks, Nordstrom, Costco and Weyerhaeuser when we need them. He's a salesman, he needs to sell. And anyway, most of the events are sponsored by Asian companies, so if he can come up with a case for a spot as good for a tournament, he can figure out a way to get some Korean conglomerate to sponsor it. You can't tell me JTBC has any business interest in Phoenix, for instance. Ya Smiley is a salesman.....but he's the commish...it should be the LPGA biz development responsibility to prospect new sponsors and potential host venues and call in Mike when it's time to close. For Seattle...it will be just as hard finding a host course as it is finding a sponsor. Sahalee won't host yearly, Chambers Bay is a joke, I'm not sure Meridian Valley wants to return as a host. I'm not familiar with the courses around Seattle and their willingness to host. Do you know a short list of ideal host venues? I'm also not sure Seattle is a big enough market to host the Boeing Classic and a LPGA event on a yearly basis. For selfish reasons...I'd love to see a permanent return of a LPGA....and if an great sponsor and host venue could be secured maybe they could knock the Boeing out of town. I think Portland is on it's last legs.....so it would be nice to see the PNW host a yearly LPGA event. Heck...I could even see a yearly Vancouver event before a Seattle one is secured....maybe the Lotte could move here. Come to think of it....do you think racist Whan or any of his myopic Yank team members have made a call to H-Mart to sponsor an event?

And that's why these companies are what they are because they don't go around pissing away money for a suspect ROI on sponsoring a LPGA event. If they want to be a good corporate citizen for Seattle they would be better served having a huge fund raising event for a local charity(s) and double matching any public donations. If I was any of the above companies....I would sink my money behind the Seahawks, Mariners, Sounders for ROI before I'd put a nickel behind a LPGA event.

Does Walmart do it in Arkansas for ROI purpose on a lousy $2.0 million? $2.0 million to Walmart is like $4.00 or less to most people. All it takes is an internal champion, and Mike Whan has to locate that person.

It seems like the formula for attendance is to be the biggest event in town that week. The UL Crown just got lost in Chicago. Unless it's a major maybe.
Mid-sized cities might be the way to go. I haven't thought to much about it.

LMAO Ya.....$2-3M is chump change for a lot of companies...yet the LPGA couldn't find a Yank sponsor for the LPGA 1st FAKE major from a Yank company until the Japanese saved the day.

It says something about the commissioner; he hasn't pushed many right buttons. Korean and Japanese companies need presence in the US markets; they are low hanging fruits and easy to pick.

Champions GC in Houston was under water a couple of weeks ago, but I assume it will be in good shape for the 2020 USWO. As for the Alisports local "permits", poor Mike, he didn't budget enough grease. And poor Muni, she might have to go to school that week. The KLPGA is already off for Oct. 5-8...the JLPGA's Stanley Ladies is playing that week...they might get a little spillover from pros looking to play somewhere that week.

Imagine planning to attend the Alisports' event to have this happen at the last minute.
It's on my wish list to attend the Blue Bay tournament. Hainan Airlines services SeaTac Airport.

As commish...Whan needs to delegate....he likely doesn't so he can shamelessly take all the credit. He should have sent Tina into Shanghai to GREASE all the Chinese Gee Gee's....never send in a BOY to do the work of a WOMAN. Let's face it...the Chinese are OUT OF CONTROL.....it's exciting being ME.
