I'm curious how ( or if ) the Korean media is covering Xtina's win. I know Korea has a .... complicated relationship with Miss Kim. I love me some Christina, but i was stunned by the reaction far and wide by players and media overjoyed for her come back victory. I wonder if they are celebrating her gritty and courageous comeback, or if they just think she screwed things up for Inbee ( like most around here )

Michelle Wie and Christina Kim have been best friends for a number of years, so her reaction is completely genuine.
The other players on Tour will always, at least publicly, come out in support of their fellow players. Stacy Lewis and Inbee Park compliment each other in interviews constantly, but seeing the two of them together on the course, I can't help but think there is a rather large amount of resentment between the two. They don't seem to have any friends in common. They literally have nothing in common except that they are the two best players in the game. But you'll never know publicly.
As far as the media goes, they love stories, and Christina Kim's comeback is an awesome story. Their rooting interest is whatever garners the most interest in the sport, and since places like the Golf Channel caters to an American audience, they are going to root for the American players for the most part (Lydia Ko is an exception because of how young she is.)
Besides, she hasn't won in 9 years, and it seems a lot of that deep seeded resentment towards Kim has started to go away in the eyes of a lot of people. She isn't that loud mouth kid anymore. She's the loud mouth 30 year old who almost lost her Tour privileges and has baggage the size of Delaware.

I have no doubt the reaction to Xtina in the US media was genuine. You had many MANY people saying she's one of the most beloved on Tour.
I just wonder if that happiness was shared in Korea.

My impression was that it was not that big of a story. The 'Inbee Park finishes third' web search was one of the top ten when I looked (in fact it was #1 the time I checked it), but nothing about Christina in that list. There were a couple of stories on their golf page, which is pretty typical; it seemed to me that Mi Hyang Lee winning Mizuno got about as much traction there.

I think that says less about Mi Hyang Lee and more about the Mizuno.
