This one is by request from someone still on his fanboy training wheels…The Rocket helped Team Korea win the 2003 and 2004 Sirikit Cup. Each team had three players who did stroke play for three days; the best two scores each day was counted towards the team championship score. In 2003, the ROK won the team title by eight shots over Japan and thirteen shots over Australia. It was played at Woo Jeong Hills CC. Individual Top-Ten: Rank TEAM COMPETITOR DAY 1 DAY 2 DAY 3 TOTAL 1 KOR Song Bo-Bae 68 72 70 210 2 JPN Ai Miyazato 72 73 71 216 3 TPE Lu Kwan-Chih 74 75 69 218 3 AUS Sarah Kemp 74 72 72 218 3 KOR Park Hee-Young 73 70 75 218 6 JPN Shinobu Moromizato 76 72 72 220 7 AUS Melanie Holmes-Smith 76 77 74 227 8 NZL Enu Chung 79 74 76 229 9 JPN Kyoko Furuya 77 79 74 230 9 KOR Woo Ji-Yun 79 73 78 230 ***************** The 2004 Sirikit Cup took place at Wuyi Fountain Palm GC in China. The ROK won by two shots over China and seven shots over Thailand. She shot 79 in Round One and ended up in the hospital with food poisoning...then exited the hospital and shot 64 in Round Two! Her 69-65 finish on the weekend earned her a 2nd place finish. Two weeks later in Mexico, she MC'd...shot 69-87!

Thx Phil....much appreciated. Holy Moly Batman.....lots of knife work....seems like plastic surgery in S. Korea is like getting your braces done as a 15 years old in North America. In the 1st two pics...HYP looks like Hideki Matsuyama.

Phil, are you a forensic scientist by trade? You did a great job not only finding the pics, but actually spotting HYP in those. The Rocket has gotten herself pretty much a new face.
When I see the pics of her in hospital bed, my first thoughts was her during one of her plastic surgeries.

I think with some knife work and liposuction...The Smiling Buddha could transform to The Chinese Brad Pitt.

I think you guys are exaggerating just a tad. I could spot Hee Young in every one of these photos; she doesn't look that different!

I think if The Rocket got bolt-ons...they'd be worth at least $750,000 over the years in incremental endorsement $'s....she should have befriended or obtained advice from Gulbis.

It's a unfortunate that so many ladies in Korea feel the need to get surgery, but it's just a more extreme version of makeup, hairstyling, plucking eyebrows, etc: all an effort to look as good as you can. Some of you guys are so obsessed about this that it's almost comical: like, really, why does it matter? A few months ago, 3putt sounded hilariously pseudo-offended when he realized that Shin Ae Ahn had had work done (like, duh, of course she did!)
To me, it's only distracting if it's really obvious or too excessive, like many of the 40-something Hollywood stars these days. If you look like you're airbrushed in person, you've had too much surgery!
PS, friendly warning: if these threads become an excuse to say insulting things about the ladies, I'm going to shut 'em down.

I didn't realize the obsession about plastic surgery until I played golf with a Korean guy and he said his sister had plastic surgery...I asked how old she was and he said 20 years old....he told me how obsessed some Korean gals are to obtain the plastics. Also .....having played with some Koreans in the past 2 years....Koreans are also fashion crazy...not just women but the men too.....I saw a picture from a Korean golf partner lady who attended a KLPGA event with her friends....they were all decked out. It's no coincident that Argonne's WRX fashion thread is dominated with 95%+ with KLPGA pros....it's no contest. www.golfwrx.com/forums/topic/1174523-lpgaklpgaletjlpga-golf-fashion-on-course/We are only having some fun/entertainment....were are not insulting the gals...we all luv the likes of The Rocket, Sharon, Sky, etc, etc

This is the best thread since I started with lpga.com many years ago. I wish there was more information about each girl's surgery.
I don't know why it is taboo. If Phil decides to get a breast reduction this year, the press would go bananas even though he is mediocre.

PS, friendly warning: if these threads become an excuse to say insulting things about the ladies, I'm going to shut 'em down. I see no reason to do that, as these (my) threads are documenting historical golf activities that fit with the theme of this forum…and I have a few more potential candidates in mind. True, mr3putt will go off the rails from time to time... but I don’t do that... although I have wondered how prevalent eyes jobs are in Korea. Do you think a lot of the players on the various tours have had this procedure? I’m guessing NO, but I wouldn’t know how to tell for sure.

I am not as eloquent in my words as Phil here. But I have to say plastic surgery is fair game. If you make the choice to go under the knife, you opened yourself to ridicule discourse. HappyFan, just like you said, it is just an "extreme form of makeup, hairstyling...". If we can discuss fashion on course, no reason we can't talk about these "historical golf activities"
