Mi Hyang Lee is becoming quite a good player this year. It wouldn't surprise me a bit to see her take this step. And this course seems like a good place to do it. HF.......Good call. I'm assuming Lee is 5'3" or 5'4"....seems like she is not distance challenged with respectable accuracy too. Her stats are quite solid. Definitely a pro who was playing under the radar. www.lpga.com/golf/players/l/mi-hyang-lee/stats.aspxSo many on top of the leaderboard....could you imagine a 12 women playoff?

Congrats to Mi Hyang Lee! Man, what an intense final few holes this must have been. Three players tied for the lead in the end, with NINE more just one shot back. It could have been almost anyone in that playoff! It sounds like it was an amazing playoff, too. Five holes, with the third hole featuring all three golfers making long birdie putts. Mi Hyang apparently hit her approach shot on the fifth hole fairly close to finally put it away. So, great job by her, and a nice near-miss by Il Hee Lee, who is really shaping up into being one of the better Korean players on tour. Two Volvik girls in the playoff; I bet that made them very happy! Meanwhile, the third Volvik girl, Chella Choi, goes home empty handed again! Chella was actually at 11 under for a bunch of holes before a bogey on 15. Sooooo close yet again. I was wondering, if she ever gets the win, who would then be the best Korean on tour without a win? I can't think of anyone who has played as well as she has without getting a trophy. Nice run by Mirim Lee and Jiyai Shin. They both shot 68s, but there was too much low scoring on the day for them to make up the ground and put themselves in contention. Further back, HYP and NYC shot 67s, but too little, too late. And Bo Mee Lee shot a 67, too! But two shots too little for her. Ah well, how amazing would it have been if THREE non-LPGA Koreans earned tour cards in one season with wins? Congrats again to Mi Hyang Lee! FIGHTING!!! PS - Mi Hyang already seems pretty popular in Korea. She was being featured in a Volvik TV commercial even before this win, and her win produced a ton of likes and internet searches, so I expect even more attention from here on.

Most exciting tournament of the year! I just finished watching the re-broadcast of the final round on J Golf.
How many players that could've been part of the playoff? Both Webb and Uehara strayed with their tee shots on the final hole causing their second shots to be short of the green. Neither had good chips to allow their balls to get close enough to the hole for a decent birdie chance. Yokomine got robbed of a birdie there. Her ball ducked in the hole and ducked right out.
And how about the three who did make the playoffs? I was a fool not to pick Ilhee Lee in my Pakpicker. She actually got it to -12 after 16 but gave it right back on the par 3 17 when she missed the green left after her tee shot and her chip got away from her zooming way past the hole. Kotono Kozuma is so cute! The director thought so, too. She grabbed most of the airtime if not the trophy.
The fought for five holes, where they all sank long birdie putts on the third playoff hole, before Lee Mi Hyang shot a dart on her approach enabling an easy birdie putt to win it. Her name sounds like "Amy Hung" to these Western ears when spoken in Korean. Great win, Mi Hyang!

After a brief commercial, here's a two-minute news video of this event. The announcer says "Payne Stewart" at 1:26...per lpga.com, he's the person (dead or alive) Mi Hyang would like to meet the most. After watching her swing the club, I think she might be Payne reincarnated. www.ytn.co.kr/_ln/0107_201411091903026788This link seems to have extensive replays of various golf events over the past weekend. But, when I click on the Mizuno for the final round, some kind of error message in Korean pops up. Maybe it only works in Korea? sportstv.afreeca.com/golf/
