mr3putt: There used to be an old criticism of JN courses, particularly for recreational golfers: you can't run a ball onto the green; frequent forced-carry second shots into par-4s. I don't know enough about his courses to know if that's still true. Some of these greens have narrow entrances, especially from the "wrong" side of the fairway, but I see only one par-4 green that you can't hit a roller to, #14. Is that a "sand island" between the 10th and 18th fairway? Can you take a motor boat over there to hit your second shot?!

Now that I've seen the course.....generous wide fairways with no trees...one doesn't really need to shape their shots off the tee.
If women's golf is more popular than men's golf in S. Korea...then why aren't there larger galleries at the Hana vs. the exhibition this week?
I wonder what the Koreans are thinking when the they hear the idiots yelling Baba Booey and Go Cowboy.

This event is starting to look pretty good today...finally, the International Team is looking competitive. Hey Blockhead, what ball are you hitting? Did someone sneak a Warbird into your bag?!

Hey...I'm FIGJAN....I usually do no wrong.
Zach Johnson is a smug ***....I also saw him do a really arrogant thing to a guy asking for an autograph at Chambers. Zach and Bubba should be playing partners.
WTF.....Jason Day trying to hit an 8 iron 210 yards in cool weather. JB Holmes is a badass....230 yds from a fairway bunker...picks an iron clean to stiff it to 15 ft on 18.
Huh....Sangmoon Bae drains a 10-12 footer on 18 to win the match and there are fans who don't clap and cheer...including some Koreans.

The Internationals coming back have caused me to at least watch tonight. I was convinced the US was going to run away with this after they dominated on day one, I couldn't sit through another US rout.
It seems apparent to me that the Korean crowd has no idea how to react. This may be one of the most silent crowds I've heard in a team event. I get that it's a completely different culture, but if the crowd isn't going to get hype, I wonder if the PGA Tour will look to bring the event back to Korea anytime soon.
Danny Lee better buy Bae something nice after Bae bailed him out last night.

I think the Koreans need a lesson from the Chinese and Mericans on fan etiquette. Cheering when a foreigner misses a putt, talking on their cellphones during play and taking pictures from my countrymen and BaBa Booey, Mashed Potatoes, Light the Candle and Joe Paterno from the Yanks.

mr3putt:
The Hana hasn't started yet! It'll be at the Sky 72 GC next to the Incheon Airport, so they'll have the same population to draw from as the Presidents Cup.
"Exhibition"...yes, you could call it that since there's no prize money involved...but this is BIG TIME golf...while I really like the women pros, few of them can do some of the sick short game shots I'm seeing. Day has hit a couple of wicked chips tonight and how about that crazy high long bunker shot by Schwartzel that spun back from the collar about 20 feet to the pin? Now they just showed Bae chipping in to halve a hole!
I like what the Internationals are doing...FIGJAM and Jordan shot their mouths off and they need to be knocked down a rung or two.

On the 9th, In Gee Chun played a 9 hole round with Dubya. He said later in an interview that 'any golfer who could win the US, Japan and Korean Women's Open is a great golfer'. He went on to compliment the Korean women who had won many LPGA events during his presidency, citing their hard work and family values (Heh heh, I'm guessing that's how to translate that). He said they had a strong mindset. He opined that a 'Women's President's Cup' would be very interesting, although did no go so far as to say that a woman President would be.

I come home at 5am this morning and they were STILL playing four ball. The last time I recall seeing golf played in the dark was the last time I was in Phoenix in 2002 when Yani won. Yes, it's been THAT long since Yani won, and look where she is this week.

mr3putt:
From Quotes of the Week at golfchannel.com:
Jordan Spieth:
“We both played very poor rounds of golf and we didn't have many chances, so it was Merry Christmas to the other guys." -- Spieth on he and Dustin Johnson losing to Branden Grace and Louis Oosthuzen
Phil Mickelson:
"We spotted the Internationals’ best team two holes and they still couldn’t beat us. Just sayin’." -- Mickelson on halving a match with Adam Scott and Jason Day despite Lefty's rules gaffe
*********
However, it's fair to say that Jordan and Phil backed up their trash talk with good enough golf to win. I hope people don't get on the case of Anirban Larihi for that hideous missed putt...Jason Day was much more responsible for the Internationals falling short of an upset; how could your best player go 0-4-1? He played better with dizzy spells at Chambers Bay. All in all, this was a terrific event.

Lahiri just wasn't prepared for the pressure of the event. Danny Lee showed that at times this week, too, and was kind of lucky to pull out a halve against Bubba. You're right, though - I put this almost exclusively on Jason Day. He should have led this team, and instead he was a liability. It would have been the same for Spieth if the US lost. For some reason, the best individual players make horrible team players at these events. Tiger Woods always sucked at the Ryder Cup, and Stacy Lewis refuses to win more than 2 points at any given Solheim Cup.

Right...now I remember FIGJAM and Spieth's comments.
Considering it came down to the last match....this was a successful PC...except for the lousy play from the 'stars' and absent of a Day vs. Spieth match...therefore both captains get a D-....#MAJORFAIL.
