Seri Pak says she will attempt to participate in as many tournaments possible next year before she officially(?) retires. But she will enter one tournament every year until she wins: ANA(aka Dinah Shore) major.
Her immediate goal is to be a captain of Olympics team.

Not surprising. Can't play if you're always hurt. She could make millions by teaching if she wanted to go down that path. I doubt there is a Korean girl who wants to play golf who would turn down an offer to work with Se Ri Pak.
She should get a lifetime exemption into the HanaBank, too, if she chooses to play in it. It's only right.

Hana Bank should be renamed the Se Ri Pak Hana Bank Classic, especially since they are her sponsor!

Hana Bank should be renamed the Se Ri Pak Hana Bank Classic, especially since they are her sponsor! Se Ri is basically a forgotten name in S. Korea......even her country women would rather play in Japan vs paying homage to her this week....that speaks volumes. Her only hope nowdays is to move to N. Korea and live like a QUEEN that she desires ......and coach Kim Jong-un to break his father's course record of 38 under par.

If the European Tour had a big, borderline major event on their Tour the same week as the Arnold Palmer Invitational, a lot of players would jet off to Europe. Doesn't mean people don't like the King, much like it doesn't mean the Korean gals don't love the Queen, but you have to do what's best for your career. There's only so much money out there, especially in the women's game.

The only pros that might jet off to Europe may only be a few Euros pros...unless others have their palms greased with appearance money.
Many of the Koreans will have very successful financial golf careers....e.g.) SYR, Dumbo, HJK, etc...they don't necessarily need to chase the money on the JLPGA....and would all be school teachers if not for Se Ri.
Se Ri unfortunately is becoming a ghost in S. Korea and that's a shame considering she single handily created a golf explosion and obsession for the Koreans. Remember when Se Ri's hat was sponsorless for some time...you'd never see that for any premier Merican pro.
I believe The President's Cup would not be hosted in S. Korea this week if not for Se Ri.
I blame the S. Korean companies not backing and supporting Se Ri to host a very attractive and huge purse event to honor THE QUEEN. Heck....I think Grace doesn't have any sponsors nowadays...but yet Annika and Lorena show up logo'd when they attend some golf events in retirement.

Why would PGA Pros have to go overseas and skip Jack or Arnie's tournament. First place in each of those tournaments are over one million dollars. I don't think overseas tournaments except the open pays that much.

It was a hypothetical scenario. You raise a good point, though. If the KLPGA wanted to honor Se Ri the right way, they would have upped the prize money and handed out special exemption statuses to the winner. Make it a major. It's easy to skip when up against one of the biggest tournaments in Asia.

The Asians are too soft. The KNC was in trouble finding a long term sponsor for quite some time. KIA should have strong armed Whan to sponsor the ANA and drop their San Diego event and up the purse and ask Whan to help find a LA location. ANA should have made it a requisite to move the ANA to Japan. Mission Hills is a joke.....no one is interested in venturing there to watch the ANA anymore....the ANA doesn't feel like a major...it's just like any other LPGA event....they had to copy the white coveralls and champion's dinner from the Masters. But Whan is too Merican....it's a joke than he would have drained the LPGA's balance sheet in excess of $3M to fund a purse and provide infrastructure build if ANA didn't come to the rescue in 2015. If the French can BUY their way to obtain major status...why not others?

Why does every conversation around here always seem to go back to the ANA being a joke?
Some of this might be out of the players hands, you know. Sponsors might have a say in how these players prioritize their schedules (either through direct requests or bonus incentives). It certainly pays better for Srixon to have In Gee win a Major in Japan than play an event in Korea.
Anyway, this is a KLPA event, so I wouldn't expect too many LPGA golfers to show up for it, especially when it was against an LPGA event when they were planning their schedules several months ago (before that event went bye bye).

Yes....sponsors can have an influence over a pro's sked....so why weren't Srixon pros Inbee, Paige, or Minjee in Japan as invites. I can't remember how many times Keegan or Graeme have played in Japan. And based on Srixon's ownership by Sumitomo.....one would think Srixon would want more brand awareness in golf crazed S. Korea and other hot beds for golf. On another note...any one surprised on SS Feng's affinity to play the JLPGA so frequently....is this a tour where she builds her confidence?

I don't know where you got that idea. She is even appearing in a TV reality show although it seems at the moment her father is getting more attention on that show. Se Ri is still popular if you look how many comments she receives under her articles.
