Most of these are not surprises. I knew Mini Rocket wasn't going to make it - she wasn't polished enough coming off the KLPGA Tour. And no one can truly be surprised by Cheyenne Woods bad rookie season. I was surprised she made it onto the Tour at all.
The surprises are: Good - Sei Young Kim. Even if you thought she was going to have a good career, no one could have expected her to play like she has and chase down Hyo Joo Kim, who is a sure fire superstar. Kim may have the most surprising rookie season in quite some time, and she has one more opportunity to win a major (which she could very easily do)
Bad - Stephanie Meadow. Unfortunately, I think the loss of her father really messed her up. She looked to be a superstar in the making, and someone who could be one those Solheim Cup teams with Charley Hull for years to come. It's sad. I hope she either rebounds, or finds some kind of piece.

Didn't realize Jeung Eun Lee was a LPGA rookie until she won in Korea recently.
Kelly Shon will easily get another profession if this golf career does not pan out.
Kim Sei Young is definitely a surprise to me since I haven't heard of her at all. To tell you the truth, haven't heard of HJKim and QBeck until late last year when I began following LPGA again.

The real question is who will be the 2015 ROY. Can the more erratic but longer driver of SYK give her more fire power to edge out...IMO....a more consistent ball striker in HJK?
Although I only saw Q Baek hit her drive on her last hole before missing the cut at the CP CWO....I'm thinking she might be home sick or maybe not loving her new lifestyle on the LPGA.....preventing her from performing better.
After watching Ariya a bit....IMO...she's a mental midget with respect to golf....the rationale for her poor play. She has a really childish silent act with her caddie on the range and she was horsing around with Moriya resulting in her shoulder injury. A guy I know told me last year at the CWO....Moriya and Ariya were just goofing around during a practice rd.....he said it looked like a daycare center.
Charley Hull needs to refine her course mgmt. She was playing the final rd at the CP CWO with SYK...the 16th is a par 4 left dogleg....fitting to Hull's draw eye.....yet she tees off with her driving iron leaving 165 yds to the pin...while SYK was 40 yards in front and could pin seek with a PW or AW to chase down the leaders. She really needs to capitalize on her distance advantage.

I didn't know Steph's dad passed away.....I think Mel Reid struggled mightily with the sudden passing of her mom and Danielle wasn't all there on tour when her dad passed away. Ya...I'm surprised The Mini Rocket and Cheyenne got their 2015 exempt cards through Q school. IMO....Cheyenne is not as friendly as I thought she might be.....maybe a reflection of her poor play. If #2 GOAT was not her uncle...she'd be one of many no names. There are typically a good 6-8 pros who catch lightening in a bottle each year at Q school.

I'm impressed that Jeong Eun Lee flew to the U.S. on short notice and made the cut on two LPGA courses she hadn't seen before. She should be able to get through Q-School on gumption alone.
mr3putt:
Yeah, I saw a little bit of that at this year's Shop-Rite as Team Jutanugarn was waiting out a fog delay at one of the round tables in front of the pro shop. Ariya has to be careful...she could squash Moriya like a bug. I'm curious to know how Ariya pulled out of that B-17 crash dive I was forced to witness at the Shop-Rite and USWO earlier this year.
