I had to resort to linking the image.) ------------------------------ corrected mistake on ALPGA's qualification and found out how to insert image.

I wouldn't say this is a new event - basically what has happened is the annual Japan v Korea event has ended and the sponsor wanted a new format. It's the JLPGA version of the International Crown.
The event is being played at the same course as last year and from what i recall there was light snow showers on the first day.

It will still be a lop sided win by the KLPGA.

It will still be a loop sided win by the KLPGA. 'loop sided'? I don't know. Many top ranked LPGA players will not able to participate since only two can play while others will be from KLPGA. I think the sponsor modified the format after just getting tired of watching Koreans win year after year without any drama.

It will still be a lop sided win by the KLPGA. Honestly, I think it might be a lopsided win for the JLPGA. They have the players right now. If Lu, Shin, and Bo Mee Lee all decided to play for the JLPGA team, the KLPGA won't really have the guns to match it. They have In Gee, but they don't have the depth. The LET team is going to be interesting. Will it actually be some of the best players from Europe, or do they not really care and just send a few middle of the road players? They could make it interesting if they sent some Solheim Cup players, but I doubt any of them will want to play. EDIT: I just noticed the rule "All players must be the nationality of their tours." That eliminates pretty much all of the top players from the JLPGA. That's a dumb rule, but whatever. If you get rid of foreign players, the JLPGA doesn't have a lot to go off of.

European is not a nationality...

European is not a nationality... I was thinking that same thing, as well. We know what this is preventing, though. This is preventing the Korean gals who play on the JLPGA from playing against what is supposed to be their "home tour". It's dumb, and it's also preventing someone like Teresa Lu, a great player who wouldn't otherwise be eligible to play, from participating. Next time 3putt wants to make a speech about America and their nationalism, I want him to take a glance at this kind of stuff.

There might be some problem with your line of thinking since some girls play more than two tours. Yes, you can make which one is a primary but still some ambiguity can arise from it. Also, it does not prevent JLPGA Korean golfers from participating in the event. They just have to be picked which is I'll say a fat chance due their rankings. Last year, Ji yai Shin and some girls(can't remember their names) from JLPGA participated.

Jiyai Shin, Bo Mee Lee and Sun-Ju Ahn do not play on the KLPGA Tour. I don't even know if they have Tour cards - Shin might since she's in their Hall Of Fame, but the other two I doubt it. As far as picks go, they're likely to take someone from the LPGA Tour (if they want to play). It was fine when it was Korea Vs Japan, because then they were out in the open. You have to be from that country to play for that team. This new event, however, says you not only have to be from that country, but also from that TOUR, with very minimal exceptions.

I must agree with the general thrust of the posted comments above: THIS EVENT IS PREPOSTEROUS! The old Lexus Cup was pretty decent...Asia vs. the World. Pak and Annika were once the team captains; you can’t get much better than that. I still remember this awesome pic of Inky: The old Pinx/Kyoraku Cup (ROK vs. Japan) would have been better if they didn’t have to dodge blizzards every other year. Why did Ai Miyazato always skip this one? Korea could get away with missing one or two superstars, but Japan could not. Here’s an idea: Japan vs. ROK inside the Tokyo Egg Dome. You’d have room for at least three par-3 holes...maybe 110, 120, and 130 yards...maybe longer if you take down the outfield wall. Bring in some temporary grass from a greenhouse to create the greens. Throw in some sand boxes and kiddie pools and it would be the greatest pitch & putt tourney ever.

I don't know whether there is a golf course there or not that can hold tournament but it's an idea. Now you mention it, I do recollect the Lexus Cup. Didn't realize it evolved from that. All this discussion will be moot if Olympics adopts golf permanently. With UL International competition, I wonder do we really need another similar tournament.

Two invites for Korean team are Kim Sei Young and Lee Bo Mi and 7 top ranked KLPGA players(Chun In Gee, Park Sung Hyun, Ko Jin Young, Lee Jung Min, Cho Yoon Ji, Bae Sun Woo, and Kim Min Sun) will enter this event.
I think it will be competitive after watching US drop Europe.

Since Bo Mi is also on the KLPGA team. Their team is very strong.

Honestly, the only competition could come from the LET Tour, depending on who they select. Japan was never going to give Korea a problem, and I was kind of unaware the ALPGA was still a thing.
