Thank goodness Juli had the good sense to pick Paula for the Ping. On Friday she proved her game is razor sharp. Good luck to the 24 best players in the world.

Mind boggling. Did anyone read my report from day two of the Canadian? I had the joy of watching Creamer hack it up all over the course just so I could watch her playing partner Inbee. I don't think she hit two good shots in a row in six holes. It was absolutely miserable. For this they passed up Alison Lee? Sheesh.
EDIT: Oops, Alison made the team. Didn't think she had a chance. Congrats to her!

“These are the two players that best fit what we’re trying to do,” Inkster told GolfChannel.com before going on the air Monday night." Lose? That's a weird goal, but all right, whatever floats your boat, Juli.

“I don’t have Paula on the team because she’s a good friend of mine. I have Paula on the team because I think she will help the ratings... uh, I mean the team.” - Juli Inkster (more or less )

Inkster said. “I think she’s earned the right to prove herself, and I wanted to give her a shot to do that.”
Why didn't Paula prove herself in Canada last week, when she knew it would have impressed Inkster and silenced any doubters? Why does she only have heart at the Solheim?
How many shots has Paula had to prove herself this year? How often has she done it? Criminy.

Juli Inkster wants to duplicate Fred Couples in 2011, when he took a struggling Tiger Woods, or Meg Mallon in 2013, when she took a struggling Michelle Wie. If it works out, she will be remembered as the smartest captain of all time. It's not going to happen, but I look at the European Team, and I don't see a big batch of winners there, either.
Only Jessica Korda, Gulia Sergas, and Beatriz Recari are missing from this event. 21 of the 24 players from 2013 are playing.

I'm surprised Paula got the pick, but nobody else was exactly lighting it up this season. Austin E. or Mo Martin had better results the last few weeks, but not overall for the year. Would have been better to get a new face.

Correction on my previous post: Jodi Ewert Shadoff, who I keep forgetting exists, was on the team in 2013 and is, obviously, not playing this year. So Team Europe replaces three players, Team USA replaces one.
canlinny: True, it's not like Martin or Ernst were tearing it up out there, but Team USA is coming off of a horrible defeat two years ago, and in response, they send the exact same team? Inkster could have shaken things up and taken two players who have never been on the team before, signaling a change of the guard, but instead she went with the "safe" picks.

Not only did they send exactly the same team (except for Alison), but the two captain's picks are playing worse than two years ago. I agree 100%. If Inkster were serious about winning, she would have picked two new faces. That would have sent a jolt through Team USA. Maybe it would have backfired, but let's face it: you had to try something. I would have gone with Danielle Kang and Mo Martin. Martin is still a Major winner, and when I saw her in Canada she seemed reasonably sharp (nice to have someone whose current form is good). Kang is a match play beast with a ton of positive energy and spunk. Another reason for new blood: this would have been a career highlight for both ladies, which would have sparked major motivation and excitement in both. For Creamer it's just another Solheim, and possibly the least of them all for her.

What experience does Kang have in match play other than winning the US Amateur (2nd most prestigious tournament in women's golf) twice in a row?

My sentimental picks would have been,Danielle Kang and Jessica Korda. Still fresh in my mind, the battle they had at the US Women Amateur. It was one great final. Also because I think they are both really nice.

Hmmm....seems like Korda didn't fight and try to justify a captain's pick.
I wonder if Juli initiated the Saturday night 90 minute cocktail with The Pink One....so they could scheme and dialogue how to justify Paula's pick for the Monday evening GC telecast. If I was Ersnt, Mo or Danielle...I'd be hot under the collar if Juli initiated that cocktail time and didn't give the other 3 the same consideration.
At least Juli can take some stuff off her plate and delegate the hair color, ribbons, nail polish decisions to Mrs. Heath.

I'm shocked Carin picked Hedwall over Lindberg....I guess Carin is expecting a parking lot cat fight in Germany.

We don't know if The Pink One's partners were carrying her back in 4somes or 4ball....but in singles...she got dusted by Catriona 6&5 and by Charley 5 &4 in 2011 & 2013.
Ole Ole!
I wonder if Dottie would have picked Mrs. Heath?
Will likely never know...the "choking freakin dogs" comment buried her chances.
IMO....Pepper should be the US team captain in perpetuity.
