Here's a cool photo sequence published recently about In Gee Chun's career. Although I don't understand everything written in Korean on the photos, I give my best try at translating below!
In Gee Chun's New Goal
This Year's Big Star In Korean Women's Golf is In Gee Chun. She won the world's most important women's golf event, the US Women's Open, becoming a world star, and won Majors in Japan, Korea and the US, the first woman golfer to do that.
She was a gifted girl. Her goal was a national math competition. Her dad helped her by asking tough questions to help her prepare?
Her Pro career started on the Dream Tour in 2012. She was first in Player of the Year, top tens, and 2nd on the money list, making the name Chun In Gee known.
In 2013 she went to the regular KLPGA tour and won the Korean Women's Open, but lost the Rookie of the Year to Hyo Joo Kim thanks in part to a season ending injury. Last year she won three times, but again couldn't beat Hyo Joo Kim.
This is something about the tears she cried when she would come up short from time to time, and that putting was her weakness in those days.
Dumbo finally arrived. Last year her putting average was 30.73 putts/round, 36th in the league. This year it rose to 29.61, 1st in the league. It was her putting that lifted her in Japan, America and Korea.
She met her five goals. She wanted to successfully defend a title, win in the States, win at least three times, win the match play, earn an LPGA tour card. She did all these things this year!
So now she has a new goal: Top the KLPGA money list, and break Hyo Joo Kim's record of 1.28 billion won. She has won 719 million won, with 12 events to go?
You Can Do It! Dumbo was able to fly with Timothy's magic feather and his big flapping ears (in the Disney movie). In Gee Dumbo will achieve her goals by means of positive confidence.
